LOST... the 4th season - DaveStrorm - 02-17-2008 Maggers Wrote:I thought she and her team were directed there by the signal the guys in the arctic or antarctic heard and called Penny about. But that may be what we were lead to believe. If Penny's people found that signal, so could others, and perhaps those others are on the freighter. Yeah I'd say that's a good bet for how they got in the vicinity. But it didn't seem to be enough for the rest of the freighter group to actually get there without Naomi's signal to guide them the rest of the way.
Maggers Wrote:Watching the episode again, I was struck by Sayid's extreme tenderness towards Naomi's body. Could he possibly have known Naomi somehow, somewhere? Could he have been in cahoots with her? If yes, when and where and how did that come about? I noticed that too but didn't really dwell on it. But since somebody else noticed it then maybe there is something to it. I start thinking I'm reading stuff into it that's not really there sometimes. LOL.
Maggers Wrote:Here's a weird possibility. We've never seen what happens to a dead body that is removed from the Island. Naomi will be the first. They spent a good bit of time on Naomi's body. Somehow, I think that's significant. Think she could be revived off the Island? That's a very interesting thought. It probably is significant in some way at least. I don't know why but that reminded me of Miles' ghoulish statement, "that's just meat" when Kate and Jack (I think) were carrying her body.
LOST... the 4th season - Maggers - 02-18-2008 Another random thought.... A lot, not all, but an awful lot of the lead characters on LOST are only children: Jack (doesn't know Claire is his half-sister; seems to have been raised as an only child) Claire (doesn't know Jack is her half-brother; also seems to have been raised as an only child) Locke (though he may have had foster siblings) Kate Sawyer Ben Walt Jin Sun (I think, no flashbacks have indicated any siblings, just her parents) Those who are not only children, like Boone and Shannon (yes I know they are step siblings but they were raised together), and Charlie, have been killed. I have no idea if there is any connection in those statements. They're just interesting observations. LOST... the 4th season - Paul R - 02-18-2008 Being a Sunny Englander, coming three days late every week to the Lost Thread means most points are covered by the time I get here, so once again, I don't have an awful lot new to add. That said, I had one observation that I don't think has been covered.... more on that later though. Firstly, like Maggers, I found it extrememly sad that Sayid becomes Ben's hitman upon leaving the island (as one of the Oceanic 6 no less!) I wonder if he's assassinating people related to Dharma? That would explain why the man on the golf course became worried when Sayid mentioned he was one of the Oceanic 6. For my money, Sayid was always one of the Good Guys. Now I'm left wondering whether he was working for Ben all along.... (And I agree that Sayid definitely seemed to dwell on Naomi, as if he knew her previously.) The look that passed between David and Frank, when questioned by Desmond about the Widmore name, also seemed to mean something. There's got to be a connection there. So what else did I notice? Well, I didn't record it so can't confirm this, but didn't the girl Sayid shot (Elsa?) say that the call from her boss came thirty minutes early? And on the island there was a thirty minute delay when Daniel performed his rocket experiment. Could Elsa's boss be an island inhabitant? So many more questions! And didn't Ben become even more badass now that we know he makes it off the island?! LOST... the 4th season - Alvin Fox - 02-18-2008 Paul R Wrote:So what else did I notice? And on the island there was a thirty minute delay when Daniel performed his rocket experiment. Could Elsa's boss be an island inhabitant? That's something that I've been seeing everywhere. The reason why everyone says no is because while the rocket takes 31 minutes to get to the island Daniel still talks to Regina on the frieghter in real time. Also previous times when Jack and Naomi where talking to the frieghter were in real time, not with 30 minute delays. Other sites are crazy. People start talking all of this space-time theories and I can't understand half of it. I read it and think to myself, "Would they really be making this show that difficult to understand?" Going back to Ben's "man on the boat", I think it might be Kelvin. He's someone who's interacted with both Desmond and Sayid- the only two going to the frieghter. Who says Desmond really killed him? LOST... the 4th season - ccosborne3 - 02-18-2008 Another great episode. The flash forwards have been much more entertaining than the flashbacks ever were. The big question for this episode is who was Sayid tring to kill? I'd guess either Abbadon or Widmore, unless it's someone that hasn't even been on the show yet. I'm really enjoying this season. The writers seem to be getting very creative. Someone needs to kill Ben. Beating the crap out of him every episode is fun to watch but enoughs enough. How many times has Sayid been shot? I'm thinking at least 3. LOST... the 4th season - Maggers - 02-18-2008 AlvinFox Wrote:..Going back to Ben's "man on the boat", I think it might be Kelvin. What happened to the body of Desmond's hatch mate, Kelvin? Various groups and individuals have trouped by what seems the same area of the Island at which Kelvin was conked out by Desmond and there was no body to be seen. Granted, maybe there are several parts of the Island that have that unique stone creation at the waterline, but, geez, they've managed to find every other body on the Island, why not that guy's? So, I think Kelvin will pop up again, and as you said, he's connected to both Sayid and Desmond, the two folks on the chopper heading back to the boat. Quote: I'm really enjoying this season. The writers seem to be getting very creative. They sure have. They've been massively creative all along, but this season has built on everything that's gone before and expanding into the whole wide world now, not just the confines of the Island, though there is so much to explore on that Island they could stay there forever and find wildly creative things to write about. Quote: Someone needs to kill Ben. Beating the crap out of him every episode is fun to watch but enough's enough.Hilarious and too true. But Ben is not going to die. Here's a horrifying thought....suppose BEN is the "he" that Kate has to get home to in the flash forward with Jack at the airport!!!???? Suppose Kate and Ben have some as yet undiscovered connection, or he blackmails her into staying with him or taking care of him or something because of her nefarious background. OMG, I'd rather kill myself than live like that. But maybe if this scenario is even half-true, maybe Ben has threatened all of the Oceanic 6 by promising to hurt the people left on the Island if they all don't do what he says. Good lord, the more I think about this show, the more all-powerful Ben becomes. Quote:How many times has Sayid been shot? I'm thinking at least 3.Poor Sayid, he wants so badly to atone for all that he's done, but he seems to be punished again and again. The ladies he loves are taken away, he gets shot, and never gets out from under the thumb of someone who wants to make him do bad things. I was wondering if the conversation that Ben and Sayid had in the flash forward referred to Sayid's original fall into torturing, back in Irag when he let his lady love go free and was then captured by Kate's father (remember that?!) and forced to become a torturer by Kelvin (remember that?!). Ben accuses Sayid of getting into trouble by thinking with his heart rather than his gun, and Ben tells him to remember what happened the first time Sayid thought that way, though no details are given. Sayid says something like that's how you convinced me to kill for you. Was he referring to Irag or something closer in time to the Island? This reminds me how much the characters were all connected by little things BEFORE they got on the island in the first place. Is that now supposed to all be coincidence or is it going to eventually be explained? My fear is that these little things that have been introduced will never all get answered. If Sayid is referring to his time in Iraq, and he said that's how "you" convinced me to kill for you, and the "you" back in Iraq was the US government, could Ben be working for the US government?
