I've read the spoilers from the Sydney premiere.
As long as people are okay with canon being twisted then it should be alright.
Personally, I think JJ is a douche. He was a douche when I met him at the ST '09 premiere in Kuwait. But the more I've thought about what I've read, I think that this movie will be enjoyable. I really think alot of that opinion has to do with my opinion on Cumberbatch and his excellent work on Sherlock and other films.
I'll still try and plan my 4 day R&R to Qatar around when the AAFES theater there will have it, but if I can't, then I don't mind waiting till I get home (should be out on DVD by then) and watching it on my 55in LCD flat screen with surround sound. (Might be time to upgrade to a bigger TV as well...or might save that purchase till after I PCS so the movers don't break/steal it.
