As I understand it, these rules conform to US laws regarding contests. But they may not conform the the UK's or Cadada's or Brazil's. Thus the exclusion. I don't care who enters, but by the rules I can award the prize only to an American citizen. Get it? (Wink-wink, nudge-nudge)

I have a problem for Jack...

He wants to enter a competition being run by the publisher of his favourite author, but must prove his US citizenship. What does he do?

Dave

Well, for a start, he bloody well better not use "favourite" in his entry. Big Grin

Even though the contest has not been officially announced, entries are coming in. The judges haven't begun their duties so I've been reading them myself. Some of them are damn GOOD. Some inventive minds 'round these parts. If the quality maintains this level it's going to be very hard to pick a winner.

No hurry, though. You've got till the end of September

Will every good offer be published? e.g. in this board?

Y'know, Mark Twain wrote a couple of short stories that I always admired because they led their protagonists into impossible situations and abandoned them there, with the author then claiming that he just had to give up on the story since he couldn't see any way to get his characters out of their pickle.

I'm half tempted to file the serial numbers off one of those wicked situations and submit it for the contest. Under a pseudonym, of course. (You will note that I was careful not to name the stories, lest someone else steal the idea. Big Grin)

(Suddenly I sense Barnes & Noble getting a lot of orders for Mark Twain books from FPW fans ... Smile)

Dude. I hope that doesn't mean a planet is going to blow up or something.

I thought you all might feel better to know that as a Queen I have been DISQUALIFIED from this competition. So you can all enter without the well-founded fear of being beaten by me yet again.

Lisa

P.S. -- Effy is sending me a thousand dollars anyway, just because he loves me so much.
