The Alien series - Scott Hajek - 07-14-2005 The Mad American Wrote:Spoiler...for a movie that is 20 years old...... I believe that the "pilot" of the downed ship is shown to have his ribcage blown out by a "chestburster." But, after watching Aliens, it makes one wonder about what laid all the eggs in that downed ship. Maybe the Aliens caused this other ship to crash and then proceeded to form a hatchery. But I'm not the Alien scholar, so that is only my guess. The Alien series - Dave - 07-14-2005 The Mad American Wrote:In Alien, when they find the downed ship that has all the Alien egg/pod things in it. Did anyone else take this as an Alien ship? They show the pilot or whatever that is mummified and it seems to be similar to the Alien, but the thing is the area where the pod/eggs are seems to me to be a very deliberate design and seemed more like a hatchery or nursery rather then an infestation. If this was the case then the Aliens had the ability and intelligence to space travel. In all the later movies it turns them into mindless killing machines without this kind of intelligence. Anyone else get this from the fist movie? Would have been kind of cool to see this elaborated on some...but oh well. I still really enjoyed the movies. I came to the same conclusion as Scott, they'd hitched a ride in the pilot, who was a giant by our standards. As sequels go, I wanted them to go to the planet that ship came from, to find a planet with a balanced system of Aliens and the giant species (pilot). Following the premise Alien 3 used, that the alien emerges based on the form of its host, imagine the size of them! Thousands of them! Much more interesting than them reaching Earth I think. Going to have to rewatch Alien. For some reason I don't remember the pilot things chest being blown out. But still, Scott makes a good point. If the Aliens did take over this ship what laid all the eggs that were in the hatchery thing? Still all in all a great Space horror movie. Just one of those things that always made me wonder.... Or they could have done AvP differently and had there be an actually war between the species not just the Predators using the Aliens as some kind of safari animals. So much potential with that idea and ideas along your line of thought, have the Aliens make it to the Predators home world or something along those lines. How about an Alien hatched from a Predator? That's what I got from the first Alien. Quote:As sequels go, I wanted them to go to the planet that ship came from, to find a planet with a balanced system of Aliens and the giant species (pilot). Following the premise Alien 3 used, that the alien emerges based on the form of its host, imagine the size of them! Thousands of them! I always had the feeling that the Aliens and the giants whose spaced ship crashed in the first movie were not from the same planet. That giant mummifed pilot sure had a surprised and horrified look on his face, as I recall. It seemed to me that space ship meeting up with the Aliens was a shock. So I don't know if there would be a planet with a balance of Aliens and giants. Seems like the Aliens want to conquer whomever/whatever species they meet. Quote:Much more interesting than them reaching Earth I think. I agree, though I 'm not sure how much of the giant species would remain following an Alien visitation. The Alien series - smithers52 - 07-14-2005 The nickname for the giant mummified pilot from the original was dubbed the "space jockey" by Ridley Scott and crew. Like what Dave mentioned, I hope they do a prequel of sorts explaining how the space jockey guys were taken over by the Aliens. And yeah I'd like to see a big backstory on how the Alien species came to evolve. If the producers could find some good writers and such the project would be worthwhile. I still feel there's some legs left for the franchise. The Alien series - KRW - 07-14-2005 The Mad American Wrote:Spoiler........... Spoiler, again....................... Isn't that how AVP ended? They left it wide open for a sequel on the Predators home planet. KRW The Alien series - Sam - 07-14-2005 Hmmm...maybe the giant species, who were obviously intelligent, found the aliens (and egg pods) on another planet and were taking home samples to learn more about them and underestimated their danger?? In AR they find that the aliens are "quick learners" with some intelligence and that would explain how they took over the giant's ship, but not smart enough to pilot it. Something really neat would be if the giant pilot was a predator. A nice tie-in to the later movies. Maybe, I guess that giant species was "King". Like a mantis, after mating, he was killed by Queen. :p |
