The Wolf Man - Scott Miller - 02-12-2010

I decided to treat myself to the matinee this morning and while it is not great by any standards, I rather enjoyed it. Rick Baker's work was reason enough for me to like it-the transformation scenes were cool and I thought the fully turned wolfman a nice homage to the original. I'd say if you like old fashioned monster movies, you'll probably like this. It is not truly scary but there are several pretty good jump scares.

Cool, thanks for the review Scott. I love old fashioned monster movies. I really want to see this and hopefully will be able to catch it on the big screen.

We're going to see this one tonight. Thanks for the review.

Was it Nick Cave I saw second-from-right in the newspaper ads?

Maybe. I don't get the paper any more but I don't recall seeing his name attached to the film but that doesn't mean he isn't it just means I haven't heard if he is and let me tell you that the things I don't hear far outweigh the things I do.

Probably the reviews I read would have mentioned if he were in it, but it sure did look like him in the ad.

And I know what you mean about things heard and unheard...

Good movie....worth a night out to see it on the big screen. No spoilers from me...but as Scott said..the transformation scenes were cool.

The missus and I are going to have a date night soon. We're thinking about going to see this.

Yup. I definitely thought it was worth seeing on the big screen. The transformation scenes were very, very good, imo. Like others have said, it wasn't truly scary, but I wasn't really expecting it to be either... I expected a pretty solid remake of the original Wolfman movie, and that's exactly what I got.

I enjoyed it. A few moments made me jump, but it's fairly easy to startle me.
