The Keep Audio Commentary - Drlazarus - 05-09-2009

FPW, you mention that you recorded an audio commentary to be released on CD when "The Keep" came out on DVD. Even though they haven't released it on DVD, I would like to hear it anyhow. I have an old VHS copy that I could sync up with the CD.

Perhaps it could be made available as a download from audible or I-Tunes. It would save on production costs (for a CD) and all the fans could get a copy.

Any chance?

Shad

Belated welcome DrLazarus. You'll like it here.

And, you are a genius, BTW, Shad.

Best idea on the board in the last month, if not longer. Where do I sign up for one, FPW?

Thanks for welcome!

Maybe if enough of us ask for it, he'll make it available. I would love to hear it.

Well, it's on DAT, but it runs over 90 min. Wouldn't that be a HUGE file?

I regularly download a podcast that runs to 2 to 2 & a half hours

So not really, depending on web traffic I can get the podcast in 10 - 15 minutes (and on rare exceptions even quicker)

So shouldn't be a problem

Not sure how go about selling it commercially on i tunes - but I don't think size will be an issue

It would be a very large .wav file (approximately 1GB, give or take 250MB) but at MP3 at 128kbps encoding it wouldn't be much larger than your average music album (about 75MB).

I'd offer to convert them but I never invested in a DAT component either for my audio system or my computers.

I think the DAT that FPW is talking about is Digital Audio Tape...physically...not DAT computer files...he may have to record them onto the 'puter first.

Is there a good recording studio that encodes directly to MP3?

It would be a large file, but lots of audiobooks and podcasts run longer than that. It could also be sold as one lot, but downloaded in smaller parts. I-Tunes does that with it's audiobooks. I bought "Hell House" and it downloaded in two parts each 4 1/2 hours long, and the files were only 62MB each.

I have no idea how you get it on I-Tunes or audible, but there is a tech guy out there somewhere who does.
