In Haunted Air, the owner of the second hand store had some ritual that allowed him to remain living and unable to be hurt as long as he performed the ritual annually. However, Jack was able to hurt him. So....could this 'ritual' be something out of the Septimus Lodge? Could that guy have been a member? Did the Ally allow Jack to hurt the guy?

I bet one of the Infernals is the Zacor (sic?) -- that thing from the Lodge that sought out and killed people - in Secret History...

Is Tesla's role up in the series done? he had a lot of interesting experiments and its possible he may have done something with the earth that fought against Opus Omega. I find it hard to believe that he was a one shot deal. I mean he saw the otherness and then thats it? That doesn't sound like Tesla. I bet you he invented a way to reach Tom- wherever he is...

Jack's Mom kept calling him her 'miracle boy'. He was clearly born to counteract Rasalom. Can the Ally influence birth?

Jack's uncle Gurney plays a BIG part of this series, I think. There is some relation between the uncle and the Ally/Otherness. Part of the Lodge, maybe? Could he be one of the Seven?

The Rakosh blood - the drug causes violent impulses. Could that act as the temporary trigger gene for oDNA?

Weezy will return as someone slightly mentally ill. It was clear in the first book that her family was trying to downplay her mental illness (whatever form it is).

Have at it....

Very interesting ideas. I will have to think on them before replying further.

Welcome to the board.

As I understood it, the "ritual" was something he thought/believed/imagined would protect him from harm. Thinking/believing/imagining something doesn't necessarily make it true. And in this case, it wasn't.

As I see it, Tom is gone . . . period.

That's enough for now.

Clearly you've been doing some thinking about the series. I like that. You're spot on with some of your interpretations and off on others. (Don't ask which.) Some will be cleared up in future books, others will be left for readers to suss out. I will remind you that Tesla was quite mad toward the end of his life -- became the template for mad scientists in a lot of pulp fiction. Ever wonder what pushed him over the edge?

OH! The I bet that Rakoshi are completely made of something similar to oDNA, not quite the same, and I also bet that all of them have the trigger gene in spades. So maybe roDNA reacts with oDNA. But you are probably right as it is.Big Grin

I don't mind Ken's explanation, but I like to lean to the spooky side of the equation...it was the Otherness, not the Ally that allowed Jack to hurt him...the same quality about Jack that let Rasalom and Mauricio know that Jack had been touched by the Otherness (Rakosh scars/wound) was what allowed him to give that devil his due.

berrymastiff Wrote:Jack's Mom kept calling him her 'miracle boy'. He was clearly born to counteract Rasalom. Can the Ally influence birth?

If memory serves, Jack's birth was 9 months following Rasalom's rebirth, so yes, it can.

berrymastiff Wrote:The Rakosh blood - the drug causes violent impulses. Could that act as the temporary trigger gene for oDNA?

Yes, which is also why Jack was able to stop himself from harming Vicks and Gia when he was mickied with Berzerk...he can suppress his ODNA and control his trigger-gene so he could also control the drug's effects, albiet with an extreme effort.

I have no insight into your other questions...and look forward to reading the answers in future works.

And a couple more...

The Lodge CLEARLY has something to do with the Q'qr. Don't forget that members of the lodge killed one of their own, cut his arms off at the forearm, and sewed those into his armpits... a rude depiction of a classic Q'qr.

The name of the town...was originally Quakersville.... long before the first quaker ever hit America. Supposedly the town was built around the Lodge --hence Q'qr-ville?

Weezy is manic depressive. That will no doubt play a part in future books, but unknown in what degree.

Walt promised jack 'I owe you one and I will pay it...." What does that mean? We know that Walt has the Day-tat-vao.... how will that help Jack?

Is Weezy "mentally ill"? I read the character as a smart, lonely young woman. Her peers' main interest is boys. Weezy's main interest is somebody to share her interests, somebody to =talk with=.

Hey-- I'm new to the board. Well, I'm new to posting, I suppose. I've been reading the board for quite a while now and I couldnt resist responding to this one.

My favorite point here is this:
Quote:Jack's uncle Gurney plays a BIG part of this series, I think. There is some relation between the uncle and the Ally/Otherness. Part of the Lodge, maybe? Could he be one of the Seven?

Honestly I'm intrigued with Uncle Gurney. I re-read harbingers and bloodline, and this uncle is mentioned in both books. Not to mention jack's myspace page. Uncle Gurney strikes me as very similar to Dumbledore's brother, who is hinted at over 6 books and then plays a huge part in the last book. We know absolutely nothing about him, and he is the only blood relative of Jack's who is not dead... Suspicious.

Yes, re-read Secret Histories and the comments Jack's friend (brother of Weezy) makes about her being crazy, and the fight and then silence that follows.... remember...the 'Family issue'. That issue is her family thinking/knowing that she's off a bit.
