Nightworld/All The Rage Question - bones weep tedium - 09-07-2007

In Nightworld, Bill and Jack take the necklaces and shards of Glaeken's sword to a very strange little shack with some very stange inhabitants. I remember these characters being very interesting, and completely out of left field (for me, anyway).

In All The Rage, I seem to remember that when jack arrives at the Freakshow he notices a strange little shack and makes a brief comment, something along the lines of 'Who would live in such a strange lil shack?'

Question is: Is this the same shack? Is this a reference to a FPW story that I havent read (so the ref is lost on me) or is this something he's written in to later develop? Is is it nothing other than a ref to Nightworld?

You're not confused. You simply haven't read "Tenants" which you'll find in The Barrens & Others. (And you're right: It is the same shack.).

Cheers, FPW

I just managed to get a copy of BLACK WIND off eBay, and my partner got herself a copy of SISTER NIGHT.

I'm trying to find a copy of HEALER, but I guess I now know which book to hunt out next. . . ! Smile

You can buy them new here in reasonably priced, revised editions that include the LaNague short stories as well.

Read on down the page. It's a nice summary of the series.

Read on down the page. It's a nice summary of the series.

There is a LaNague chronology on the page

"Lipidleggin'" (included in An Enemy of the State)
An Enemy of the State
Dydeetown World*
The Tery*
Healer I
"To Fill The Sea and Air" (included in Healer)
Healer II
"The Man With The Anteaters" (included in Wheels Within Wheels)
Healer III
"Higher Centers" (included in Wheels Within Wheels)
Wheels within Wheels
"Ratman"(included in An Enemy of the State)
Healer IV
Healer V

This excludes Masque - I had always considered this part of the LaNague series, in a similar way that Dydeetown world is.

Not really. It can be viewed as part of the same timestream, but much earlier. The LaNague civilization is interstellar, the Masque civilization is not. Masque is linked to the RJ/Adversary Cycle world via Kaze Group. Although not originally intended as such, I can see Masque as an interim look at the world between Nightworld and AEOTS.

I removed *SPOILERS* from the thread title. The warning was a courteous gesture, but I don't see any spoliers here.

I've been wondering about those connections. In the past, you've said that you won't write a post-Nightworld novel. Would you now revise that answer and say you've already written them?

I think what the good doctor meant was that there wouldn't be any 'Nightworld Aftermath' stories involving RJ or close associates. I don't think hundreds (?) of years hence can be viewed in the same context.

But it does make me wonder where 'Lipidleggin' fits into the timeline.

I know we have a chart showing all the book connections but is there an actual timeline chart somwwhere?
