I have imagined reading a repairman Jack book that takes place between fear city and the tomb. It’s basically Jack working with Edward Burkes on that delicate problem that he references in the Tomb. The thing that really stands out in the book is there is a side character, a French woman who Tortures people. She considers herself an artist of pain, and she will gradually surgically cut off all of a person senses until they are trapped floating in their own mind. Obviously, I’m getting no hits about a repairman Jack story in time period. It’s possible I am conflating multiple books together but it’s driving me a little crazy. Does anyone have any idea what I’m talking about? The other thing about the woman that she is creepy cheerful as she goes about her work. Does that ring a bell for anyone. I don’t read horror so this woman character really sort of stands out as ghoulish. She’s from a different series. It’s likely to be thrillers or urban fantasy. It will not be any sort of true crime or something like that. Thank you for any help. You can give me sorting out my memories.

In The Upwelling, specifically in one of the images of *the lower left hand portion* of the regular septagon in the New Jersey pine barrens or a similar image of the regular septagon that encircles the village on/near "the Mountain" (at least in the Amazon Kindle ebook version -- I assume it's the same in the print version), the image contains a "120" degree label in the lower left hand corner, inside the septagon, which is an internal angle for a regular hexagon not a regular septagon.

The general formula for the internal angles of an regular n-gon is : θ = 180 - 360/n , where n is the number of sides (or, if you prefer radians, θ = π - 2π/n). If the angle is 120 degrees ( θ ), then we have : n = 360/(180 - θ) = 6 sides.

The internal angles of a regular septagon are : 128 + 4/7 or approx. 128.57 ( or, in radians : 5π/7 )

I don't remember if the 120 degree angle error is only present in one of the images of the lower left hand fragment of a regular septagon, or if it is also present in the book text. ( EDIT : Not present in book text )

Also, I don't know if this has been covered before -- if it has then I apologize for the redundancy.

Nocturnia trilogy availability...

Does anyone know what's going on with the availability of the books in the Nocturnia Chronicles trilogy? I did perform a search of the forums which only turned up six threads concerning the series. The latest info I could find was a post in early 2020 from FPW indicating that the availability problem was some type of "agent issue."

All that's available on Amazon is the 2015 paperback release of "Definitely not Kansas", a 2013 ~$100 collectible hard cover of the above, and a rare three-book limited hardcover edition published in 2018 that costs around ~$200.

The main reason I'm posting this question is not really due to the limited availability of the dead tree books, but because there seem to be no ebook versions available currently either. In the aforementioned search results, I read that one person was able to buy all three books in ebook form for their Kindle from Amazon -- now they're gone.

Since I read fiction almost exclusively on my Kindle, I'm out of luck concerning the Nocturnia books right now.

I do vaguely remember FPW mentioning that if one bought one of the Nocturnia novels from Borderlands or Gauntlet press, they'd also receive the ebook. But, even those two publishers are completely out-of-stock of the Nocturnia books.

Is there any way to buy the ebooks?

Thanks,

While this is for anyone to opine about, I was wondering if Mr. Wilson has read any of the Dresden Files and what his thoughts were on them. An idea popped into my head, if you are indeed a fan. I know you've done some collaborative work in the past, would you ever consider it with Butcher? Or maybe a one story character swap? I think your take on Dresden would be pretty cool and his take on Jack would be neat as well.

Just an idea from a fan of the genre.

Possibly stupid question(s) regarding eBooks of core Adversary Cycle novels...

I just got back into reading F.P.W.'s fiction. The last F.P.W. book I read was By the Sword, so I started with Ground Zero and finished the Repairman Jack arc of the Adversary Cycle. I then decided to re-read the core Adversary Cycle novels and started with The Keep. I know F.P.W. said he made some "stylistic tweaks" to The Keep. I also remember him mentioning that The Tomb / Rakoshi had been edited to make it consistent with the RJ story arc. In addition, I think F.P.W. mentioned editing Reprisal to, again, keep it consistent with the RJ arc and to also bring the technology up-to-date -- ie. cell phones instead of land lines.

Anyway, I was wondering which of the core Adversary Cycle books have been edited or tweaked. I read mostly the eBooks on my Kindle and I was wondering if the tweaked / edited versions of the books were converted to eBooks. Amazon says that The Keep eBook was (re)published in 2017, but on the copyright page in the book it says 1981 and 2003 -- was 2003 when the "tweaked" Keep was released?

I'll be finishing The Keep ( again ) soon and starting on Reborn. If the eBooks aren't based on the edited / revised / tweaked versions of the novels then I'll have to go old school and read the actual dead tree versions. I'd rather read the eBooks but I want to be sure that I'm not missing anything.

Any info regarding the above would be most welcome.

Thanks,

Thank you for allowing me to join. I saw a TV screening of the film version of The Keep before going to university to study History and Politics.

I enjoyed Tangerine Dream's music, I thought the cast was excellent and the setting haunting. However I read the novel years later and feel that the film didn't do it justice. I haven't read the graphic novel.

Compared to 1981 and 1983, we know more about Nazi Germany's repression and Romania's role as Germany's ally and Holocaust perpretrator. There also is greater access to at locations in Poland and Romania itself.

Are there any proposals or screenplays to make The Keep into a TV series?

I believe it could be compelling. Thanks.

Unfortunately, I?ve run into some headaches and may need some extra money, and the last thing I?d ever want to sell is my collection, but I was just wondering if anyone could put a price on my stuff if I did need to go that route for me. I?m sure it?s worth is to a collector or a fan, but I have a big FPW collection, mostly jack and the adversary cycle, and am just curious. I have all of the gauntlet press editions, plus all of the one offs and short story collections. I have the whispers press edition of the tomb, one in great shape, one I just have for display, and the old new English library editions of the adversary cycle, the edition of legacies under Andrew collins, and a bunch of other old AS editions. I?m hoping I can figure it out before it gets to that point, but I just was curious if anyone had any information if I did have to sell. Wish me luck.
