The Ramones - Maggers - 05-10-2005
"The End of the Century - The Story of the Ramones" is now out on DVD. I highly recommend it. I saw it in the theater last summer and loved it. If you loved the Ramones, it's a must. If you don't know anything about the Ramones, it's time you learned.
Man, it was a fun flick, a very well done bittersweet documentary. Great rental.

Was honored to see the Ramones at a small club in Providence, R.I. back in '85 or '86.

Awesome. This one won't be going in the Netflix queue, this is definately a must own DVD for me. I love the Ramones. In my opinion no one writes as hooky a song as the Ramones seemed to be able to do over and over....It's sad that all but one of the original Ramones are no longer with us.

I saw them at Temple U in old McGonigle Hall with about 2,000 people right about the same time. I was right there in front "slam-dancin'". I wasn't a big fan at the time but I certainly was afterward.

Does it make anyone else laugh (and cry a little) that groups like the Ramones are now used in commercials when they could barely make the airwaves when they were in their heyday because they were too radical?

Good point. I lately have been kind of sad to see Ramones songs, Led Zeppelin songs, Aerosmith songs (the original Aerosmith, not the sugar ballad machine that is impersonating them nowadays).
"Dream On" in a car commercial?....sigh, were does it end?

Actually it makes me sad just to discuss Aerosmith because so many 'fans' have never even heard of "Toys In The Attic" or "Get Your Wings." They lost all credibility with me when they played the Superbowl halftime show with I can't-even-remember-the flavor-of-the-month-crappy-singer a couple of years ago.
At least with Zep, they had no low points in their lifetime, so if people are listening to them they are hearing rock-n-roll at its finest.

They disbanded when Bonzo died *bows head*, they didn't make albums just to get hit singles, etc. Wasn't Almost Famous the first movie which was allowed to use their music? I heard that somewhere, but could be wrong.
