Star Trek Enterprise Ends Friday - Keith the Elder - 05-09-2005
The last 2 original episodes of any Star Trek presence on TV will air this Friday on the UPN as back to back episodes starting at 8:00 Eastern time. Set upyour recorders!
The series runs short of it's original projected run.
It was that damn theme song!!

I'm told these last episodes are far-and-away the best STAR TREK:ENTERPRISE has had to offer. Is that true, Keith? My friend who clued me in isn't really a Trekker, but she suggested that somehow the first Enterprise has found its way into TOS universe of the Empire...?

The sad part is the last two seasons actually got very good... especially last season with it's huge story arc. Wish they had one more season to see if they could keep the momentum up.

That was a two episode arc where we followed the Enterprise crew in a parallel universe. The interesting thing about this story was that it came out of nowhere. All of a sudden we're following their bad versions around without explanation. It was kind of cool.
Still a little confused by the "good" Archer appearing and whispering into the "bad" Archer's ear what horrible things he should do.

Does sound cool indeed, Marc, but my friend was pretty sure (again, she's not a Trekker and might have gotten things confused) that the first Enterprise was in the universe of the Empire. Any evidence to back that up? Or are things just generally strange, weird, and evil? ("Strange, Weird, and Evil"--good name for a band!)

Missed the first 15 minutes of that arc. Thought there might have been a logical segue into it, but you're sayin' it came from outta nowhere. Strange.
I knew is was parallel universe because of the Sword through the Earth logo from the TOS episode where Kirk, Uhura, Bones and someone else (Chekov??) switched places with their "bad" counterparts during a transport in a magnetic storm. They got back ok.
What was with that whispering Archer anyway?? I was stymied!!!

None that I saw but I'm not a Trekker/Trekkie so I may have missed something. All I know is that from the very beginning you knew this wasn't the Star Trek Universe we've all grown up knowing. This was a plain dag nasty evil place.

When I said it came out of nowhere I meant that there was no lead into the universe... just the episode began like any other and we were there in the universe. No portal. No time warp. No nothing. Just there. That's all I meant.

That's how I read it.
So I guess the trekkers in the Empire were thinking "Who are these weenies?" when they got Federation episodes for those two weeks.

That wasn't the Good Archer, it was the evil Archer's subconscious, he was a little nuts, not to mention evil. This episode was pretty neat. They had the Mirror Universe opening credits, the murder of the Vulcan delegation at First Contact, and the Defiant from the Tholian Web episode of TOS. It was so neat to see that ship in battle.
I liked the fact that there was no link to the "Good" universe othe than the Defiant and her historical records. Probably the best episode of Trek since DS9 went bye-bye.
