Dead Birds - Marc - 04-13-2005

I just finished watching this direct-to-video horror film called Dead Birds. If you're a fan of the horror genre this is a film not to be missed.

Dead Birds tells the story of a group of soldiers in the late 1800's who rob a bank and are on the run. They hold up in an abandoned home for the night only to be terrorized by the demons that live there.

This film actually gave me quite a few jumps. The general atmosphere is good, acting almost top notch, and although there is a bit of violence the movie strives to give general creeps as opposed to reducing itself to gross-out scare tactics.

If you are looking for a well done low budget independent film, I highly recommend you check out Dead Birds. I doubt very much you'll be disappointed.

Thanks, Marc. I just put it at the top of my queue. I'm a sucker for a horror movie, especially if someone recommends it to me.

Good call. I wasn't quite as taken with it as you, but it is fine low-budget fare worth checking out. I like Michael Shannon, the tall skinny guy, from
Grand Theft Parsons where he played the hippy hearse driver.

Dead Birds - Sam - 04-13-2005

Good call, Marc. I watched this movie last week and thought about posting it. Thought they did a good job on a small budget. Sort of had The Grudge feel to it. Some good creepy scenes. Even some gore.

This week I gave Sasquatch Hunters a chance. Had a couple of good scares but that's it. Pretty much a horrible movie. The bigfoot(s) were done with CGI, and BADLY. I won't even bother mentioning the actors.

I also watched Final Cut last week. Pretty good flick. Interesting story line. Robin Williams' character is...complex, I guess you could say. You want to feel sympathy for him but the secrets he keeps to himself is morally disgusting. His past gives you an insight as to why he is like that, but...

I wonder if Netflix notes a jump in the number of orders on certain movies. I put "Dead Birds" at the top of my queue, too. Big Grin

According to IMDB, it was released on DVD March 15, 2005. Don't know if it will air on any of the movie channels but do keep an eye out for it. It's well worth the 90 minutes.
