Smilla's Sense of Snow- minor spoilers - Gerald Rice - 03-11-2005 I forgot all about this movie. This is a direct to cable thriller in the same vein of an X-Files episode. It concerns a half Greenland, half American woman who befriends a little boy who suddenly dies. She investigates after figuring his death wasn't just an accident and discovers that the boy's father was part of some Antarctic expedition and something pretty cool you'd never think of in a million years happened (I don't want to spoil too much ). Anyway, it's worth the rent and Smilla is played by the very beautiful Julia Ormond. I haven't seen it in Blockbuster as of late, but then again, I haven't looked, either. It's a literate thriller which takes a look into worlds about which I knew little...Inuits of Greenland and life in Cophenhagen. Very cool. Smilla's Sense of Snow- minor spoilers - Weatherford - 03-24-2005 good movie and good book! |
