Blood Simple - jimbow8 - 01-23-2005 I went into this movie knowing absolutely nothing about it except that it was a Coen Brothers movie. What a wild trip this was! Dan Hedaya hires a private investigator (M Emmet Walsh) to kill his wife and her lover (Frances McDormand and John Getz). Similar to Fargo, things begin to go wrong and they just continue to escalate out of control. Good performances all around, but M Emmet Walsh steals the show. If you liked Fargo, you will most likely enjoy this one, too. 8/10. P.S. No nudity. Blood Simple - Maggers - 01-24-2005 I love "Blood Simple." I saw it when it was released 20 years ago. It's probably my favorite Coen brothers film, and introduced me to the wonderful Dan Hedaya. Blood Simple - Kenji - 01-24-2005 I like Coen Brothes movies. Blood Simple is fascinating suspense. Especially, my favorite scene was last. That scene was laser-like beam of light come through from bullet holes to dark room. Very stylish! But! Coen Brother's best movie is Miller's Crossing,IMHO. "LOOK INTO YOUR HEART! LOOK INTO YOUR HEART!!" Blood Simple - Sam - 01-24-2005 Did this movie have a scene that had to do with Walsh's hand?? Nailed or stabbed or something??? Not sure if it's the same movie I'm thinking of. Blood Simple - Scott Miller - 01-24-2005 Sam Wrote:Did this movie have a scene that had to do with Walsh's hand?? Nailed or stabbed or something??? Steve D One of the chief criticisms of the Coen brothers was that their movies were getting too stylistic and too plot-light, especially after the filming of the Hudsucker Proxy. The Brahs returned to that Blood Simple basics with Fargo and voila, the critics were raving again. Speaking for myself, the Coens have not made an uninteresting movie. re: the nudity. The Brahs seem more at ease with gore than with nudity; with the lovemaking scenes they use that old 30s devise of moving the camera from the bed to the wind-blown curtains, but with the gore, it's splatterville better than Freddy and Jason. |
