Just thought I'd post and share the good news, perhaps bad for some of you, the remake for John Carpenters Escape From New York has been squashed, they pulled the plug, now if only they could've pulled it on The Thing prequel.

Nice. And yeah, I was excited about The Thing prequel but after seeing the trailers and reading about it some, it is pretty much a remake of the Carpenter/Russell version with woman added. A total waste.

Thats the same thing I thought, it looks like a crappy redo of perhaps the IMHO greastest horror movie. When I first heard about it I cringed, but then I thought, well at least we will see some backstory and see what happened to the Norwegian? crew. But no, just a remake, with more flash and style, but seemingly less substance.
Speaking of remakes, have you seen the remake of Night of the Demons? I'm assuming you know of the original, if not, its kind of a cheesy 80's siege horror movie, the remake was godawful.

I have seen the original Night of the Demons and like it a lot, I have not seen the remake, didn't even know there was one. That bad huh? I will avoid it now. Haha.

Some movies, no matter how cheesy they may be, should not be remade IMO. I have no interest at all in the new Conan movie. I saw the remake of Clash of the Titans and was frankly bored. And I've seen enough Spiderman; I won't go see that either. Come out with some original new movies! That's what I want.

No, studios don't want to do new original movies. That's why The Dark Tower is no longer being made and At the Mountains of Madness was passed over.
Okay, it because the studios didn't want to put a whole bunch of money forward for an unproven product.

While I'm all for new, original movies we can't forget without remakes we would have no JC's The Thing or Cronenberg's The Fly which are both among my favorite movies of all time.
