Concerts! - Scott Miller - 06-19-2011

Tis the season for live music and I got my summer kicked off in fine fashion last night with The March Fourth Marching Band. The are a collective of roughly 20 musicians, 4 stilt walkers/dancers, hula hoopers, and a few burlesque-type dancers who pump as much energy into the crowd as any band I've ever seen. I highly recommend seeing them if you find the following video at all entertaining because while it shows what they do it in no way captures the vibe of being there.

The video comes from their official site and hat is worth poking around in as well; they are quite an interesting troupe. That is no longer true so here is their official website: http://marchfourthmarchingband.com/

I saw them at a new-to-me venue that was pretty awesome as well; the Mishawanka Ampitheatre is nestled right next to The Poudre River in The Poudre Canyon. The picture doesn't really do it justice but you get the idea. http://www.enditpresents.com/venues.htm

I will be returning on July 9th to see Bob Schneider.

Who is on your list?

Me and technology, I'll see about getting that video working.

Last month I saw Ben Folds. He's excellent pianist!

In September I'll going to see TOTO(with Joseph Willams!).

Going to see The Monkees in September! Might also see them in August on vacation if i'm lucky. My work schedule makes it hard to see many of the summer concert events around here during the week. And while SPAC is great, I don't have the patience for the traffic.

I like Ben, was he by himself or with a band?

I seem to recall that one of the reasons TOTO wasn't more popular is that they refused, or were at least reluctant to tour so it's cool that you are getting to see them. I am already pysched for the Schneider show on the 9th.

You'll have to catch The Last Train To Clarksville.

What is SPAC? I'm no fan of concert traffic but I figure it's a tradeoff.

With a band. That tour called "Lonely Avenue tour". The album is he and Nick Hornby collaboration. Pretty cool and fun sounds.

Saratoga Performing Arts Center. They have a large amphitheater and host many summer concerts as well the Philadelphia Philharmonic, NYC ballet, and a summer jazz fest.

Between SPAC concerts and the racetrack in Saratoga the summer tourist traffic is a nightmare. We spend a lot of time in Saratoga, except during track season.

Every time I see clarsville on a map I wonder if it's on a train line Smile
I considered replying with a relevant Monkees lyric, and then adding one to each post I make to see who gets the song, but I don't think anyone here share that kind of love for the Monkees. Maybe I should join a Monkees forum...

You'll have to to do that by yourself because I'm Not Your Stepping Stone.
