How to Train Your Dragon - saynomore - 05-06-2010 Vikings vs. dragons. All kinds of dragons. Nerdy kid who wants to follow in his dad's viking shoes just doesn't fit the bill. But during a dragon attack on their village, the kid uses his gadget to wound a "phantom" dragon. But because the dragon is so fast, no one but the kid saw the dragon go down over the hills into the woods. So the next day the kid follows the broken trees to find the stealth dragon unable to fly out of a huge enclosed canyon. So the kid builds a new gadget to replace the dragon's partially severed tail and trains him to fly again. Thus, they become friends. Building on this friendship, the movie builds to a grand finale of a battle between the mother of all dragons and ... well, I won't give that away, but you won't be disappointed. Great story. Great characters. Great 3-D. Avatar led me to believe great things about 3-D. Alice in Wonderland dashed that belief. HTTYD made me believe again. Go see it. AC P.S. And keep the 3-D glasses. Don't toss them in the recycle bin. Recycle indeed. Five bucks for those glasses. Recycle...hah! How to Train Your Dragon - neotank - 05-06-2010 Yeah, I took my daughter to see it and we both loved it. How to Train Your Dragon - The Mad American - 05-06-2010 Yeah I posted on this movie a while back. I took the kids to see it and they loved it, I really enjoyed it too (other than my son Harper barfing popcorn up all over me that is). I thought it was really well done. The one scene where you first see the mother of all dragons as you described it was a little intense for my daughter but she loved the movie and is still obsesses with dragons and vikings with scottish accents. Good stuff. How to Train Your Dragon - cobalt - 05-07-2010 Dragons are magnificent! What's not to love? How to Train Your Dragon - Scott Miller - 06-11-2010 I took my daughter a couple of nights ago and thought it was brilliant; straight to the top of the Dreamworks' CGI catalogue. The action was thrilling, the jokes funny and the CGI impressive. The only problem now is Kaya wants a Night Fury. My library has the books on which the movie is adapted from so I'll be getting them shortly; I'll let you know what I think of them. |
