More Jack after Nightworld? - Turanthor - 09-23-2009 I know that FPW has said that Jack would now end with #15, so we have two normal novels and two of the Young Jack novels left and a revised Nightworld to look forward to. However, I was wondering if anyone else would think it was cool to have a few more Jack novels prior to The Tomb? I know FPW has said he doesnt want to run Jack into the ground, but with The Conflict becoming such a large part of the recent RJ novels, there has seriously been less time for the minor "fixes" that used to be in the books. I liked Ground Zero, but Jack has become a little too Jake Fix in terms of action IMO. The way he manipulated his various enemies in BTS was just excellent, the same with how he got to Jeremy Bolton in Bloodlines, but there is really none of that in GZ. I am down for the Conflict taking center stage, I was just enjoying it more when he was utilizing those skills he had acquired over the years as RJ to get the job done, not just shooting people in the head and chest. So I would seriously be very interested in a pre-Tomb era book. One that did not even have anything to do with The Otherness necessarily, just Jack making a name for himself doing the kind of small ordinary "fixes" that used to provide subplots to the books. anyone else? More Jack after Nightworld? - colburn0004 - 09-23-2009 I would love this. Legacies and the short stories with Jack are some of my favorite stories with Jack, only behind All the Rage. I think it would be great to get some books with Jack dealing with fix-its before he got knee deep in otherness. How Jack and Abe met, how Abe became a gun "dealer," that sort of thing. There are all kinds of potential stories -- up to the point where Paul gets tired of writing about RJ and decides to write about other things. (Then again, Repairmen Jack has almost become a career.) I wouldn't mind knowing a little more of Abe's backstory. More Jack after Nightworld? - suctionmule - 09-23-2009 ...FPW's in charge of all that we see (well, not necessarily all), so he's not exactly like The Outer Limits. But that aside, if Mr. Wilson's game for some early Jack, we are all too ready to partake. You might think this next comment flippant, but I'm not so sure readers wouldn't be interested in the "pre real Jack era" (what was it about him as a juvenile that led him into the dangerous world he later travels so well - - there had to be one or more moments that, in and of themselves might have seemed innocuous, but which led Jack down the less-traveled path leading to the character we know and love). Okay Mr. Wilson, we know you had a misspent youth (he said tongue in cheek). How do you feel about fiddling with a juvie Jack? I bet you could give it a good run. There's obviously still some "kid" left in ya. More Jack after Nightworld? - samurai53086 - 09-23-2009 It would be an excellent idea to get into the background story of how Jack got started. We all know why he chose the path he did, next would be learning how he did it. More Jack after Nightworld? - Brian - 09-23-2009 I remember seeing The Man talk about possibly doing a tale or two from the Old Age. I'm all for that, but it really doesn't matter. Whatever the subject, if FPW writes it, I'll read it. More Jack after Nightworld? - Peter - 09-23-2009 A good point about Abe's history. I too would be interested in that! We all know him as overweight and cynical, to the point of being paranoid. But what made him like that? And how did he come by his encyclopeadic (sp?) knowledge of weaponry? Dont tell me he knows that much and never used any of it in anger. For my money maybe an ex CIA operative who learnt too much?
