the name is similar, but the figure itself doesn't look like what I picture a Rakosh to look like.

It looks like a combo of Snarf from Thundercats and a saber tooth tiger.

Oh...and a lame hard to pronounce name that tries to rival a Rakoshi...lol

I played Dungeons & Dragons with some friends a long time ago and remembered this creature. Also, it is a common enemy you fight in the computer game Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark. They are quite nasty adversaries, but look nothing like how the rakoshi are described in The Tomb. They resemble a humanoid tiger in appearance.

I also found this on Wikipedia:

The rakshasa was one of the earliest creatures introduced in the D&D game.

Dungeons & Dragons (1974-1976)
The rakshasa first appeared in the official newsletter of TSR Games, The Strategic Review #5, December 1975.
The rakshasa (demons of India) appeared in Supplement IV: Gods, Demi-Gods & Heroes (1976).

Rakshasa is the actual Hindi name for the beast which FPW modified into Rakoshi.

In Hindu legend it's also a "shape-shifter."

I don't remember who on the board created it, but here's a rendering of a stuffed-toy "baby" Rakosh:

Thanks.

That's the coolest idea for a stuffed toy.
