Speaking of SIBS - saynomore - 07-16-2009 Where do things stand right now with the Marc/Paul collaboration of the filming of SIBS? If you have a good grantwriter, I could steer you toward some money to finance the endeavor as long as the budget doesn't exceed 2 million bucks. For good or bad, Obama has opened the door for Arts Funding; it's a bit of bureaucracy to get it, but it's reachable. I just got 1.1 million for a Greening Project for solar panels for a theater. Anyway, what's up? AC P.S. I bring this up because I like the spirit of the posters on the Repairman Jack movie thread: Let's do it ourselves. Starting with SIBS seems more logical as we do have all the components here and now on the board to get the ball rolling. Writer. Director. Whatchathink? Speaking of SIBS - Marc - 07-16-2009 For those unaware, I have been working since 2002 or so on an adaptation of Sibs. Unlike a lot of adaptations I tried to stay as close to the book as possible. Paul has also worked on the adaptation, tweaking some of the elements. Overall it's very faithful at slim 119 pages. The script has been submitted to several producers over the years with some really liking it and others not. Unfortunately, it hasn't been picked up yet. Two excerpts from notes received: "The main character shifts 3/4 of the way in... the audience won't know who to root for" and my personal favorite "The ending is too weird." This is not a Hollywood mainstream movie and I don't want to jeopardize the story by dumbing it down. That said the script was recently submitted to two producers for evaluation. They're both based out of New York and I'm hoping the companies they are with will see the potential of a film version of Sibs. But I don't get my hopes up. I've always realized this is a project I will probably have to do completely independently and raise the money from private investors. So your idea has a certain appeal for me. PM me or shoot me an e-mail with your proposal when you've got a sec. |
