Star Trek - Brian - 05-07-2009 Alrighty then, who is going to see this one? It opens here tonight. We have plans for dinner and then will see it for one of the late shows tomorrow night. Star Trek - colburn0004 - 05-07-2009 Definitely can't wait to see this. Been a big fan of Abrams since Alias. Never really was a big star trek fan but this looks amazing and so far its getting like review. Currently %94 on Rotten Tomatoes with 79 reviews. Star Trek - Srem - 05-07-2009 I'm a big fan of the old Star Trek, where it was less wimpy and diplomatic like the New Generations rubbish (sorry to offend any NG fans out there). I liked the 'shoot first, ask questions later' style back then more than the current 'let's reason with the hostile, blood-thirsty, frothing-at-the mouth apathetic aliens' approach nowadays. So in other words, yes, I will definitely be watching the new Star Trek movie tomorrow evening. I hate HATE HATE star trek. The Federation was a socialist government, they had no fighters ( one of the big draws to any space show) and even their small arms sucked. The Empire, hell even the Old Republic would have crushed them. Darth Vader could crush the entire Borg collective with his mind for R2's sake! Abbrahms will be the only reason I watch it. That and Harold from Harold and Kumar is Sulu. Star Trek - icarusflu - 05-07-2009 Not a big Trek an myself. For some unknown reason (otherness?) my wife really wants to go - we have tickets for the 7 pm showing. She has a degree in English and reads The Scarlet Letter and Plato for entertainment at times and constantly makes fun of my book collection. Guess I should enjoy this while I can. Don't forget Simon Pegg - he's great too Icarus Star Trek - cobalt - 05-07-2009 Did anyone see the lame Burger King commercials......Kingons! Gene Roddenberry must be doing flips in the cosmic dust. Star Trek - Brian - 05-08-2009 We'll scope the Trekkie's out and report our review later. Star Trek - Srem - 05-08-2009 Just got done watching it. I found it to be a good mix of action, humor, and special effects. I think the plot could have been expanded on a little bit more, but hey, it's classic Star Trek, ya know?? I have to admit that overall I enjoyed most of the actors and actresses, but my favorite actor was the guy that played "young Spock" (Zachary Quinto) who also happens to be the same guy that plays "Sylar" in Heroes. Star Trek - Brian - 05-09-2009 Minor SPOILERS BELOW I thoroughly enjoyed this film. The action and the FX were top notch. I know a few die hard Trek fans complained about the differences in the techs and specs of the new Enterprise. I just enjoyed the tech and the fight scenes. Kirk sure could take a beating. He got his ass kicked over and over. I don't remember the man's face not being bruised or bloodied except for the beginning of the first scene he was in. You see a brash and bold Kirk, a man used to bending the rules. A friendship evolve between Bones, Spock, and Scotty. No Klingons though. The bad guys were
Romulans.
Worth your 2 hours. |
