Life on Mars Series Finale-WTF?!?!?!?!? - Legion - 04-07-2009 I loved this show. Thought in many ways it was better than the original series. The original Brit series lasted two seasons, each running eight episodes long. The American version lasted seventeen episodes. It should have lasted 16, like the original, as it felt like the writers said "Aw, fuck it!" They pulled what Ive come to call a Dark Tower, where the ending is the stupidest fucking thing possible. Not only was it ridiculous, but they killed any hope of having an American version of Ashes to Ashes. After LOST ends I will forever be done with The ABC Network. Fuck ABC!:mad2::mad2::mad2::mad2::mad2::mad2: Life on Mars Series Finale-WTF?!?!?!?!? - colburn0004 - 04-07-2009 HAHA I caught the first couple episodes and then stumbled on the finale and when I saw the ending I thought it was a joke. It was retarded and seemed like as you said it just didn't care anymore and gave a dumb ending. Life on Mars Series Finale-WTF?!?!?!?!? - Silad - 04-08-2009 I haven't seen the American series but I thought the UK version was a bit of a cop out as well. I don't think the writer could come up with a good enough idea, or twist. Lots of people in the UK were disappointed. What we loved about the series was the unpolitical correctness of it. DI Hunt was a rough detective who said what he wanted. In UK TV now they are bound by all sorts of stupid political corrective rules that just about every main character is the same. Life on Mars Series Finale-WTF?!?!?!?!? - Murphy - 04-08-2009 I can't give up on ABC yet.... "Better Off Ted" is hilarious and I much prefer belly laughs to crunches in terms of an abdomenal workout. Or at least watch em online on a site not affiliated with the mouse. Life on Mars Series Finale-WTF?!?!?!?!? - Mick C. - 04-12-2009 The big problem is the networks are cutting production costs like crazy, and rarely give a series a chance to build an audience unless it is an enormous hit immediately. They would rather fill programming with far-less-expensive "reality" shows and now, prime-time Leno. I too enjoyed the series run of "Life on Mars" - well acted, great music score, and well written. I think if the show had been allowed to run a few more seasons, the final episode would have had more resonance. At least they were allowed to film a concluding episode, and did not have to leave the series hanging in limbo. (I am still - still - waiting for the final episode of "Coronet Blue".) There's been a lot of on-line speculation that the series ending was pulled out of the writers' behind, but the clues were pretty strong from the first episode. (As when Sam says he is going to start walking down the street until whoever is creating his reality runs out of details - paraphrasing a line from the very first episode of the original "Twilight Zone", about a man trapped in an abandoned city who is finally revealed to be an astronaut hallucinating in an isolation experiment - played by Earl Holliman, a veteran of 1970s cop shows.) I suspect the writers left some strong clues in the final episode that Sam's Martian odyssey may be yet another hallucination:

I am hoping the extra features on the DVD set have an alternate "real" ending. I had the same reaction to the Obama mention. LOL... Sorta |
