Pineapple Express - Maggers - 03-03-2009

If there is a thread on this hilarious movie, I apologize, I couldn't find it.

What a joyful, perfectly rendered stoner movie. It took me back to days long gone. Every time the characters want to get something done, they get stoned first and then, of course, nothing gets done. But it's a life or death situation that doesn't get attended to and the results are hysterical. Even the mastermind evil drug king pin is under the influence of pot and behaves in as silly a fashion as everyone else. Oh what a fabulously silly movie.

Loved it.

I loved it. It wasn't AS funny as I thought it would be but overall it was a great movie and I feel the guy who gets shot and beat up and everything stole most the funny scenes in the movie. The ending scene in the diner has to be a classic in hilarious scenes. "Oh, that was a bullet burp."

I had no expectations on this one, except that I laughed myself silly watching the stars of the movie in a clip made for and shown during the Oscars. That's what spurred me to try PINEAPPLE EXPRESS and I'm glad I did.

Maggers, thank you SO much for posting this. I had resisted seeing Pineapple Express, because I'm usually not a huge fan of stoner movies. I trust your opinion of movies so much that I pay per viewed it last night about 10 minutes after I read your post.

When a movie is funny enough that I'm laughing so hard that I have to pause the TV because I can't hear the dialogue... I know I have a keeper. Big Grin

Danny Mcbride. He's starring in a new HBO comedy (Can't remember the name) produced by Will Ferrell. I had meant to DVR the series but forgot all about it. Think I'll make that my entertainment mission of the week.

I was expecting a lot from Pineapple Express but ended up being a little disapointed with it.

The bad guy was played by Gary Cole. He's one of my favorite character actors. He was great in American Gothic and even better as one of the announcers from Dodge ball. Versatile guy.

I agree on it letting me down but still thought it was very enjoyable and also loved the opening scene that I forget about everytime then when the movie starts I die laughing.

East town and down is the show with Danny McBride. It's really funny but it's a little bit different of a role for him. In it he is more of a asshole character then the idiot role hes had hin movies like Pineapple and Tripic thunder.

Wow, Noelie, thank you for that seriously high praise and vote of confidence! I must admit, I was shrieking so loudly during this movie, I thought my neighbors might complain. I, too, had to go back to listen for dialogue. I did the a pay per view also, and I think I need to see it again, but I will wait till it comes to cable. It is a good re-view movie. So so funny, and I'm so glad I didn't disappoint you! Big Grin

Yes! He is one of my fav's also, a great unsung character actor. He was terrific in OFFICE SPACE. He can play humble dad or skeezy, sleazy boss or nasty villian effortlessly. Always fun to watch.

It was better than I thought it was going to be. I'd give it a 5 out of 10.
