Blindness - Kenji - 11-23-2008

I'm surprised nobody mentioned about this movie on this board. Today I saw three movies in a theatre. One of them were "Blindness". It was very scary. Suddenly people get blind in the world. Virus? Maybe. But a reason is unknown.

Governments isolate them into hospital. They can't get out. If they try to get out, soldier will shoot them.

In the hospital, everybody's blind. Then, blind people increased. A lot of people get in hospital, so they panic. But one woman was NOT blind.

This horrific, no-exit story reminded me of the claustrophobic queasiness of other apocalyptic films. They were dark. But "Blindness" is lit by a whiteness . It's like standing on a sunny ski slope without sunglasses.

This movie is telling about present society, ironically. People who suddenly got blind behave like crooks or animals. On the other hand, some people made a group. They started helping for each other. They walk hand to hand.
There were still hope.

If you haven't seen this yet, check this. I highly recommend this.

It's scary, but not horror. It's drama, based on the novel by Jose Saramago.
