The RJ Books --- Ranked - berrymastiff - 10-17-2008 1) Crisscross 2) Conspiracies 3) Harbingers 4) Infernal 5) Legacies 6) Gateways 7) By the Sword 8) The Tomb 9) Bloodlines 10) All the Rage 11) Haunted Air 4,435,279) Hosts I hated Hosts --- the book didn't seem to match anything relative to the rest of the series -- except for Kate dying. Otherwise it just seemed almost written by some other author. I could barely read it a second time. From 3-10, most are interchangeable. None is significantly better or worse than each other --all are totally fantastic. 1-2 are probably the best books I ever read. 11 is ok. Not bad but not up to par. Thats my take anyways.... Mine: 1) Harbingers 2) Conspiracies 3) Gateways 4) Crisscross 5) The Tomb (Rakoshi) 6) Hosts 7) Bloodlines 8) Legacies 9) Haunted Air 10) All the Rage 11) Infernal 12) [unpublished Jack book] 13) [unpublished Jack book] 14) [unpublished Jack book] 15) By the Sword What can I say. I love the big R. Harbingers rocked! Hard! I rank 2-5 as exemplary...Conspiracies is listed second because it is a masterwork tapestry of crackpots, whacked theories and still ties everything (including the entire Adversary series) firmly together, setting Jack straight down the road to Harbingers. 6-10 are all equally good, which is to say well above the quality of most other horror/suspense/espionage novels. The subway saviour thread in Hosts is one of the best story lines in any of the books, bar none. Infernal was an interesting bit of character development but...maybe on a second read I'll have a better opinion of it. Finally, By The Sword didn't thrill me like the rest did...it seemed to be too much denouement from Bloodlines and didn't have near as many "OH! COOL!" moments for me as Harbingers, Crisscross or others. Far more predictable than the other books. And, I have recently come to want a different ending. -Wapitikev The RJ Books --- Ranked - Dave F - 10-17-2008 For ages Haunted Air was my second favorite RJ book (after Legacies) Now I would say Bloodlines & By the Sword have gone top I am a massive Glaeken fan so his appearance & the first age revelations have moved these books to the top of my list The RJ Books --- Ranked - John Is Ghost - 10-17-2008 berrymastiff Wrote:1) Crisscross i loved hosts!!!!:p The RJ Books --- Ranked - Kenji - 10-18-2008 Now, BY THE SWORD is #1 to me. Each has its own character, its own powerful scenes, each giving more insight into the people and the Secret History Paul has created. But having said that, the ones I've reread the most (in no order) are CRISSCROSS, ALL THE RAGE, LEGACIES, HOSTS, INFERNAL, THE TOMB, BY THE SWORD, HARBINGERS, CONSPIRACIES, THE HAUNTED AIR, GATEWAYS, and BLOODLINES. The RJ Books --- Ranked - DrFoix - 10-20-2008 The Tomb, Legacies and Conspiracies hooked me with the characters, the story and the great Manhattan backdrop. |
