The Forgotten - Kenji - 08-10-2004

Can you forget your son or daughter? This is weird suspense. I saw this trailer, and I want to see it. Release in U.S. is September 24. I highly recommend it.

It looks great! I worked with head injury patients in a rehab hospital and one of the most interesting people was a lady that survived a head on collision with a semi. She lost all her memories of her life before the accident, and her short term memory was shot also. Every time I saw her, I had to reintroduce myself. After about 5 or 6 times of doing this, people would start to look familiar to her. It devastated her life though, her husband divorced her, her grown children were hurt that she did not remember them and avoided her.

Well, this was a few years ago, but she had remarried to a nice, understanding guy. I know she really felt terrible about her children, so hopefully they have accepted that things are just different and are getting to know the new her. That was another thing, a real personality change happened with her. Everyone was saying, well, you used to do this or that, and she felt like she was constantly failing someone. I felt for her.

That is sad. But at least she ended up with a good husband.

One of my saddest days was when my wife timidly came up to me and asked, "Um . . . what's your name?" It didn't bother me that she couldn't remember my name, what really got to me was the stricken look on her face when she said it.

Ken - still choked up about it - V.

How heartbreaking.....I was so sorry to read on some earlier posts that you had lost her. What a comfort you must have been for her...

It worked both ways. The smartest thing I ever did was to ask her to marry me.

When I made this thread, it was Last year August. Gosh!

Today, at last I went to theater see The Forgotten. Some people said "worst", but it was okay to me. It was pretty good.

Julianne Moore's performance was perfect as much as "The Hours". Also other actors were good, of course.

But...I thought I've ever read similar story to this movie. Then I realized it. "The Eye of Darkness" by Dean Koontz.
