She lost all her memories of her life before the accident, and her short term memory was shot also. Every time I saw her, I had to reintroduce myself. After about 5 or 6 times of doing this, people would start to look familiar to her. It devastated her life though, her husband divorced her, her grown children were hurt that she did not remember them and avoided her.

I know she really felt terrible about her children, so hopefully they have accepted that things are just different and are getting to know the new her. That was another thing, a real personality change happened with her. Everyone was saying, well, you used to do this or that, and she felt like she was constantly failing someone. I felt for her.
