Waste Allocation Load Lifter - Earth class - Mike Hanson - 06-29-2008 I checked out "WALL-E" Saturday morning (and yes there were a WHOLE LOT of very young children there). My abbreviated non-spoiler report? It is the BEST movie of the Summer! A wonderfully inventive and moving film (so absorbing that all the little kids quickly settled down as their eyes opened wide, mesmerized by the wonder unfolding before us all on the big screen). The simplicity of the no-talking first act communicates perfectly to both child and adult (reminiscent of some of Charlie Chaplin's best work), while the hyperkinetic and artfully subversive second and third acts constantly leave you on the edge of your seat. To the cynical techno-nerds, the CGI palette and patina of this opus is frighteningly detailed with haunting moments of urban decay. Never quite over-the-top or preachy with it's eco-message, this prescient cautionary tale delivers with all four rocket drives at full thrust. I give WALL-E, FIVE out of five cans of diet cherry vanilla Dr. Pepper! I dunno why, but I'm like that. :alberteinstein: Waste Allocation Load Lifter - Earth class - Ken Valentine - 06-30-2008 Mike Hanson Wrote:I give WALL-E, FIVE out of five cans of diet cherry vanilla Dr. Pepper! It's from Pixar, so I expect it to be good. Ken V. Waste Allocation Load Lifter - Earth class - dejo - 06-30-2008 I saw it last night with the missus. (I think there was only one other couple without kids in the crowd). It was excellent! Another stellar outing from Pixar! And a nice Mac reference for the Apple fans when WALL-E reboots. Waste Allocation Load Lifter - Earth class - cobalt - 06-30-2008 Every since I saw the previews for this movie, several months back....I've wanted to see it. Since I'm on vacation this week....I'll be there. Waste Allocation Load Lifter - Earth class - volshan - 06-30-2008 I saw this with friends over the weekend, and must agree with the things said in the previous reviews - it's a wonderful movie. Kids near us who couldn't keep quiet at all during the second half of the drive-in double feature, Hulk, were mesmerized by Wall-E, the whole show through. (The adults were as well, myself included.)
Afterward, one of the friends I went with asked me what I thought of the movie's commentary on the current 'IM generation'. I thought the movie extrapolated that fairly well also.
Marty Waste Allocation Load Lifter - Earth class - Marc - 07-03-2008 Definitely a must see. It's funny, touching and several social issues it talks about without smashing you over the head with it. And considering there is very little dialog in the film (I think it's a safe to say the first 40-minutes or so are virtually dialog free) it never bores. It could be billed as a modern "silent" film. I haven't seen anyone else mention this but during the end credits did anyone else pick up on the evolution of animation? It starts with cave paintings, goes into renaissance and ends on 1980's 16 color graphics. I thought it was pretty clever. Waste Allocation Load Lifter - Earth class - Susan - 01-13-2009 I watched this on PPV this weekend. I loved it!! Terrific movie on so many levels. Yes, the animation is fabulous, but it has a message about our culture and what we could become (if we aren't already there). How brilliant was it that they could make 2 robots express so much feeling with so little...face! Eva's expressions came only from two digitized eyes, yet we knew exactly how she felt every time. I loved Wall-e's best friend, the indestructible cockroach with a weakness for Twinkies. Absolutely delightful! Now I can't stop walking around saying, "Wall-eeeee...Evaaaaaaaaa." Waste Allocation Load Lifter - Earth class - cobalt - 01-13-2009 Pssst....Susan. Try having interactive Wall-E ans Eva in the house. While they are cute...........they won't shut up. We take the batteries out at night.....otherwise I would have taken an axe to them. ![]() Waste Allocation Load Lifter - Earth class - GeraldRice - 01-14-2009 Susan Wrote:Now I can't stop walking around saying, "Wall-eeeee...Evaaaaaaaaa."
