Downloadable Lilitongue map (I hope) - Chevron - 03-31-2008 Finally got round to putting that map somewhere if anybody wants a copy. There are two versions - one with smooth shading and one with some pixely shading. I've put them on one of those sharing websites so, hopefully, you should be able to just open or download them. I really hope these links work. My wife tried them from her computer and everything seemed to go okay, but let me know if there are problems and I'll try and find out what I did wrong (and there's bound to be something wrong as the website confused the hell out of me. But, then again, it doesn't take much to do that). Also, if anybody knows a better way of doing this, let me know. http://www.4shared.com/file/42583878/7faea777/Lilitongue_Map.html http://www.4shared.com/file/42583842/b4561daa/Lilitongue_Map_with_Raster.html They look quite good if you print them on that parchment-style printer paper. Good luck! Thanks, FPW, for letting me put them out there. I was so nervous about putting them on here and then finding they didn't work, I had to resort to small-ish glass of tipple to calm me down (yep, any excuse will do). Thanks Mike. Downloadable Lilitongue map (I hope) - IanSF - 03-31-2008 Duly dowloaded and I'll add my admiration to what Mike says. Truly outstanding work, Chevron. Like Mike, I'm partial to old maps and prints, I like to see where and how places change through the years. I have a collection of 'then and now' Victorian and recent maps and some books of 'Frith' prints. Your map is easily on a par with these. I'll have to get some of this 'parchment paper' you mentioned to print it off. I've got some of those 'then and now' maps and photos of where we live, too. I love seeing the differences. Have you seen this website: http://www.old-maps.co.uk/ This company has scanned all of the old OS maps and created a seemless database from them so that you can order any area. The website's a bit difficult to follow (at least, it was for me), and the maps are a bit pixely due to the contrast they had to use, but they have maps going back to about 1870. We got a couple to put up on our walls. Thanks again. Chev. It's good that you can enter a modern place name or street and then see what was in the area 100+ years ago Every place I've ever lived was just a collection of fields in the late 1800's! Downloadable Lilitongue map (I hope) - Sourdoughs - 04-02-2008 Those are some beautiful maps! Nicely done. -MarcC Downloadable Lilitongue map (I hope) - Fenian1916 - 04-02-2008 Those are pretty cool.
