Two movies I saw this weekend--> The Mist and Enchanted - Schwinn160 - 03-31-2008 Opposite sides of the spectrum, for sure. ![]() The Mist Very true to the book, except for the very end; however, that was planned in advance and I knew to expect "a surprise," which it most certainly was! Somewhat gruesome, as all Stephen King stuff usually is, but not as bad as some movies I've seen. I'd definitely see it is you like King, horror, or need a case of the heeby-jeebies. ![]() Enchanted I'd never even seen a commercial for this, and I was surprised when it started as a cartoon! However, the main character's "banished" to the real world with some comedic results. Kids will like it, and I, being a kid at heart, loved it! I really like James Marsden, and his character is very funny in his parts. The music is pretty catchy, too. ![]() Anyone else see anything good this weekend? Two movies I saw this weekend--> The Mist and Enchanted - RichE - 03-31-2008 "THE FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE" Very well made-pretty drawn out-but insightful. "DARK INTRUDER" nice little supernatural story, with hints of Lovecraft. THE MARX BROTHERS!!!!! LAUREL AND HARDY. I met Peter Cushing back in the 1970's and he had a part in "CHUMPS AT OXFORD". We both talked of our love for these 'Two Minds Without A Single Thought'. Two movies I saw this weekend--> The Mist and Enchanted - jacobm - 04-01-2008 We also rented the Mist this weekend, having never read the story i don't know how accurate it was. However, the movie did come across with a Stephen King feel. The role of the father/son, so prevalent in King stories, the monsters outside are no worse than the ones inside...that kind of thing. I was turned off by the ending, primarily because i have a son the age of the kid in the movie; but also because i wondered why they didn't just wait for a little while. Even a day, it was like they were in a hurry to pack it in. My wife was extremely disturbed by the end, oh well, i was disturbed when she chose Atonement for a different reason...it just plain sucked. Enchanted we saw in the theater, and both really enjoyed it. Actually so did my son, which was odd because we were afraid he was too old for a fairy tale. But he thought it was hilarious. We didn't let him watch The Mist. I'm not that bad a parent. Two movies I saw this weekend--> The Mist and Enchanted - cobalt - 04-01-2008 We had "No Country For Old Men" from Netflix. I liked everything about this one, except the ending. It left me wanted something more. Well, both of us that saw it wanted "The Mist" to leave us with something LESS. ![]() Two movies I saw this weekend--> The Mist and Enchanted - jacobm - 04-02-2008 We had also rented No Country for old Men, the weekend after it came out on DVD. The end was underwhelming to say the least. Two movies I saw this weekend--> The Mist and Enchanted - Wapitikev - 04-02-2008 It was a Coen Brothers movie...you couldn't possibly have expected a happy ending. It ended just as I expected it to; unhapily for everyone exept the lawman who is alive and essentially unchanged from the beginning of the show (see also Fargo). And that's all we can expect from a Coen Brothers movie, friend-o. -Wapitikev Two movies I saw this weekend--> The Mist and Enchanted - Kenji - 04-03-2008 Wapitikev Wrote:It was a Coen Brothers movie...you couldn't possibly have expected a happy ending. But "O Brother, where art thou?" and "The Hudsucker Proxy" were "very" happy ending. ![]() Two movies I saw this weekend--> The Mist and Enchanted - Kenji - 04-03-2008 Oh, I haven't seen THE MIST yet....Gahhhh!!! |
