Not Quite the 80th Oscars (You) Expected? - Barry Lee Dejasu - 02-25-2008 For being the 80th Annual Academy Awards, I personally felt last night's Oscars were kind of "average." Granted, there were a bunch of rewarding turnouts (Tilda Swinton), a bunch of welcome surprises (The Bourne Ultimatum is now a three-time Academy Award-winner!), a few areas of disappointment (not ONE of the songs from Enchanted won...bugh), and at least one Inevitable Win That I Didn't Want (Daniel Day-Lewis...I'm sorry, but Viggo Mortensen was so damn unique!). However, just a few things that kind of irked me about the overall show...

Not Quite the 80th Oscars (You) Expected? - Kenji - 02-25-2008 I haven't seen Academy Award show. But now I'm watching CNN and I heard about Oscar winners. Actors and actresses winners were all European. And I heard "No Country For Old Men" is The Best Picture. We can see it next month. Great! Not Quite the 80th Oscars (You) Expected? - Barry Lee Dejasu - 02-26-2008 ...Brad Renfro wasn't mentioned, either. But the peculiar thing is, the Internet Movie Database even mentioned him, BUT NOT ROY SCHEIDER! Can anyone say "Laaaaaaame!"? Not Quite the 80th Oscars (You) Expected? - mkmfpwfan - 02-26-2008 Bring back John Wayne trying to slug that Indian lady who was not accepting the Oscar for Brando. This Oscar presentation had the lowest ratings ever.--------Mark Not Quite the 80th Oscars (You) Expected? - Marc - 02-26-2008 Barry Lee Dejasu Wrote:...Brad Renfro wasn't mentioned, either. The Oscar's honored those who die between Feb. 1, 2007 and Jan. 31, 2008. He will probably be listed next year. Not Quite the 80th Oscars (You) Expected? - RichE - 03-03-2008 I think a lot of the lack of interest are these 'flavors of the month' who are being touted as movie greats when not making fools of themselves for the tabs. What has become of real acting? Stage people who worked hard, learn their craft and then made movies? Alas, I guess those days are gone! Yeah, the ones who are still doing that stay out of the so-called "public eye" They don't normally make the press. In fact many there are many movies out there made not long ago that were something special, and most people I know have never even seen them. (I.E. Ed Wood, A Genius Two Partners and a Dupe, The Villan.) Heck most people probably don't even know who Terrence Hill is..... |
