Rashômon - Kenji - 11-18-2007

Rashomon, it's one of Akira Kurosawa's best films. Of course, the top one is Seven Samurai.

This film is Akira Kurosawa's adaptation of Ryunosuke Akutagawa’s short story. The story is about bandit, One traveller and his wife.

If you haven't seen this before, check next link. It has English subtitles. Wink

Rashômon

Quality is low because of old film.

Maybe someday they'll make a movie, Rakoshoman. Or maybe they'll just make a Repairman Jack movie. I dunno.

Rashômon - Mike Hanson - 11-20-2007

I caught it on the Independent Film Channel for the first time a couple of years ago. A brilliant low-budget minimalist masterpiece....and one that is so intrinsic to the human condition, that it has become part and parcel of the modern lexicon. Pompous pseudo-intellectuals love to spout out the term "Rashomon-like-moment" in reference to any single incident remembered differently by two or more people.

I watched a DVD of "Zatoichi," the most recent incarnation, starring Beat Takeshi (Takeshi Kitano) this past Saturday. Excellent. I still like the original B&W flick, but this new one was fun to watch also...

Oh! Takeshi Kitano's Zatoichi was brilliant. He is now great film maker.

But he is also comedian. Big Grin
