This looks like it'll be a pretty good film.

Kinda Death Wish/Death Sentence-y revenge thriller, but with a much better calibre of filmmaker behind it. Should definitely be worth a watch.

Seems to me as though Beacon needs to hurry itself up with making the Repairman Jack movie. There seems to be a real interest in revenge/vigilante type movies at the moment, would be a good time to bring it out.

Well, first of all, it's not really RJ-esque, because RJ got revenge for a crime against his own, not him per se. This is more personal.

Still, any movie that justifies vigilante justice is fine by me! Right on! Big Grin

I'll go to see The Brave One. Yes, it looks as good as this movie. It's also great revenge/vigilante type movie. Smile

Sounds sort of like Death Wish with a love story thrown in. It doesn't sound anything like Repairman Jack. He "fixes" things for other folks and is not "just" a vigilante.

Did you see "Paparazzi"?

The movie is an obvious, outright, unrepentant REMAKE
of "Death Wish."

In fact, I'm sure you'll see some statement in the credits
of the movie that it is based on the original book that
Charles Bronson's movie was...

That's all well and good but how many Dr. Peppers?

Oh please. After seeing the big screen preview it seems
obvious that "The Brave One" is an obvious, outright,
unrepentant REMAKE of "Death Wish." Jodie Foster is
nothing but a gender-switched Chuck Bronson.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see some statement
in the credits of the movie that it is based on the original
1972 "Death Wish" novel penned by Brian Garfield (that
was the basis for the 1974 Bronson movie directed by
Michael Winner and scripted by Dalton Trumbo).

I'm just impressed that a major star would play such a character. Revenge stories are very common among 'low-brow' exploitation movies, but major films from major talent are usually pretty liberal after they've been through the Studio Story Sanitizer.

I, too, wanna know how many Diet Dr Peppers this film looks like it'll get? Do you even issue provisional Diet Dr Peppers, or is that bad form? Wink

Vigilanteism (sp?), violence, revenge . . .

Yeah, it doesnt sound anything like Repairman Jack. I am such a twat.

You happy now? Do you like the thought of me crying? Coz that's what you just did mister Sad

I thought this sounded a little Repairman Jack-y and a lot Death Wish-y. I know RJ fixes things for people, I've read the books too Rolleyes but it's unfair to say it sounds nothing like RJ just to make me cry, Auskar. That's really out of line. Sad

Oh, BTW, before this turns into something it's not. . .

Wink

. . . ahhhh, Mr. Winky-Face. Is there no catastrophic online grudge-war you can't effortlessly avert??

I love Mr. Winky-Face.

AND YOU MADE HIM CRY, AUSKAR. YOU SATISFIED NOW???

Spoiler about The Tomb and Crisscross and Infernal and Harbingers

First, in "The Tomb", Jack's fixes job started as revenge. His mother killed and he killed the murderer who dropped concrete block.

Second, in "Crisscross", Richie Cordova killed sister Maggie, and Jack killed Cordova as "revenge".

Third, in "Infernal", Jack's father was killed at airport, so he did "revenge" to Hamad Al-Kabeer and his members.

Fourth, in "Harbingers", Jack tentatively worked with yeniceri. They are "vigilante", at least they think they are vigilante. But then Jack realized they killed father, so he did " revenge" to them.

Yes, at first, Jack's fixes jobs are his business, but soon his fix-jobs replace personal revenge.
