I found this a couple of weeks ago. It's about time they finally put this out. Glad to see it will be released in HD and Blu-Ray versions too. RIK Blade Runner: Ultimate Collector's Edition - Sigokat - 09-04-2007 So its out now? I heard about it a few months ago. I don't care about the price tag...$54.99 is worth it for this sci-fi classic!! Blade Runner: Ultimate Collector's Edition - Kenji - 09-04-2007 sigokat Wrote:So its out now? I heard about it a few months ago. Here in Japan, release date is Dec 14. Blade Runner: Ultimate Collector's Edition - bones weep tedium - 09-07-2007 Is this the already existing Director's Cut, or the soon to be released Final Cut? I hear the Final Cut is going to be getting a limited cinema release over here. Blade Runner: Ultimate Collector's Edition - bones weep tedium - 09-07-2007 ImDeranged Wrote:Or if you want to get your Geek on and argue and debate the merits of the narration vs. the unicorn vs. whatever they've put together this time vs. the workprint what could've been. I think the snobbier view is that the Director's Cut is the best version, and that the Theatrical Cut is stoopid. But I was very young when I first saw this movie, and although I was blown away by the visuals and the final scene, I must admit that I struggled joining the dots in a very esoteric storyline that was a little too mature for me to fully understand. I ended up very confused and therefore very bored Years later I bought it on VHS and it was the theatrical version. Initially I balked at the narration becasue it is so terrible, but I must say I had an approximately 63.8% better understanding of what was going on than ever before. Now when I watch the (superior) Director's Cut I feel I can only fully appreciate it because of the intertextual reference to the Thearical Version. I'm really looking forward to watching the Final Cut, and finally getting to see the restored singing and dancing number at the end of the movie. :p Blade Runner: Ultimate Collector's Edition - Sigokat - 09-07-2007 I prefer the orginal version (with narration) myself. I remember trying to watch BR (the director's cut) a few times but I couldn't get into it and turned it off...I just couldn't follow what was going on. I picked up the original version on VHS one day, watched it, and immediately grew to love it. Now its one of my all time favorite movies and I'm excited that a DVD version of the original will now be available. In the end, to each his own...if you like the DC then that's cool...if you like the original...that's cool too. Blade Runner: Ultimate Collector's Edition - Kenji - 09-07-2007 I liked the original version(with narration by H.F.). When I saw it in a theatre, it was awesome. Visual, story, action, and a lot of strange Japanese signs. Well, anyway, after I saw that version, I bought original version's VHS, then I bought Laser Disc. I saw director's cut version in a theatre, but I felt something missing. After all, I thought I need Harrison Ford's narration in the film. But I liked that sudden ending. That was cool. Blade Runner: Ultimate Collector's Edition - Auskar - 09-07-2007 I really like Blade Runner. Both versions (so far). I would like to get it in Blu-ray and have been waiting for it. But I don't see the need for five discs. Just give me the movie, not all the extra crap. |
