The Simpsons Movie - ccosborne3 - 07-30-2007

I took the phews to the Simpsons over the weekend. So far (in my opinion) its the only film this summer to deliver the goods. The laughs slow down for a bit after the first half hour but by that time we needed a break from the hilarity. For pure nonstop laughter I'd rate it second only to The Naked Gun. The kids are already trying to suck me in to taking them again. Maybe Thursday.

While admittedly not as good as some of the more classic episodes
of the TV Show, this movie pretty much carries your interest, and
your laughs, right through to the end. A good meal, but no real dessert.
I gave it a FOUR out of five cans of Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper on
my blog.

Homer:

"Spiderpig, spiderpig, does whatever a spiderpig does
can he swing, from a web
no he can't, he's just a pig
hey there, there goes the spiderpig!"

Prepare to laugh you head off. Your face will hurt when you come out of the theater. Very well done, I think.

I can't believe there aren't more people commenting on this film.
I went to see this last week with my son (he's five). It was his first film seen at the cinema and he loved it. As did I. There are some truly classic moments and if you're a fan of The Simpsons (as most people are, I think) you will laugh the whole way through.
Highly recommended methinks.

I want to comment, but I have to wait for it until next year! Sad

Glad you had a good time! Smile

Not having watched The Simpsons much in the last several years, I wasn't sure what to expect of the movie. Thankfully they still know how skewer anything or anyone. I thought it was the funniest film I've seen in awhile with several classic moments.

That really sucks. When I was a kid I watched show from Japan called Starblazers. The first 2 seasons were great but for the third season for some reason they replaced the voice actors and turned the show into a big pile of crap. What they did to you is even worse as the show has been on for twenty years. If it was me I'd boycott it.

I agree. That's not a smart move. I watched Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence a couple days ago (subtitled) and I've really become used to hearing the voices I'm used to coming from Batou and the Major (becasue of the series Stand Alone Complex, and it felt like something was missing because of that change -- even though logically, I knew in advance the voices would be different.

I mean, can American audiences imagine different voices coming out of Homer and Bart, and so on? I don't even watch the show anymore, but I know what they all sound like.

...and the movie was mostly funny. I really like the "spiderpig" segment.

Yes, indeed!

A lot of Japanese Simpsons fans protested to Fox Japan. Because of that, Fox Japan decided to release subtitles version!

Moreover, the release day was next spring in initial schedule. But they decided to release it next week!
