Inland Empire ~~No Spoilers~~ - Kenji - 07-21-2007

First of all, I want to ask to everyone. Can you stand for 3 hours David Lynch's film?

I could....somehow.

Today I went to see "Inland Empire". I thought 3 hours is too long. Moreover, it's David Lynch's film! But I enjoyed it. You know why? Because I'm D.L fan and I like his films. "Mulholland Drive" and "Lost Highway" completely confused me. But I like them. I think we shouldn't understand D.L's films. Because we CAN'T. So....also "Inland Empire" confused me. Completely I don't understood. More than "Mulholland Drive". But I understood one thing. "Inland Empire" is another side of "Mulholland Drive". Story is about actress and her husband, actor, director.

I felt it's like beautiful nightmare without exit. Oh....I wish I could say more details. But I won't say....no, I CAN'T say! Big Grin

So, I say about actors and actress.

Laura Dern! She played actress with perfect acting. She's great. I think this is her best film. Jeremy Irons played director. And, usual actors&actresses in DL's films, Harry Dean Stanton, Grace Zabriskie(Laura Parmer's mom), and Diane Ladd. All characters are unique. Especially, Grace Zabriskie freaked me out.

If you like "Mulholland Drive", I highly recommend it.

My favorite DL films.

1, Wild At Heart
2, Mulholland Drive
3, Lost Highway
4, Inland Empire
5, Blue Velvet

What's your favorite?

Eraserhead is #3 ?!

As I said, I'm David Lynch fan, but I dislike only Erasehead.

And my number one hate film of Lynch's is "Dune". But, then again, I've hated the Sci-Fi Channel's miniseries too. It doesn't help I found the book terribly boring.

I haven't read any books of Dune series, so I can't compare books and movie.

But I like Dune.

Damn, I had no idea Lynch had one coming out. Blue Velvet is in my top ten all time flicks. Elephant Man is in the top twenty. I've seen them all except for The Straight Story. I'm not sure if its available yet on dvd.

Trailer

I didn't know about this movie until last week.

In Japan, yesterday was the opening day. And, it's limited theatrical release. Only one theatre in Tokyo!!! So there was filled beyond capacity.

The Straight Story is not like usual David Lynch film, but it's pretty good.

DVD is available. Smile
