Why is Bloodline $80??? - Vargas - 06-28-2007 Why in the hell is Bloodline $80? I just checked Amazon and it is listed at that price? WTF? When is the normal book going to be released? I can't stand all of these limited edition and milking of the fan base that authors always seem to do. Just release the book already. Why is Bloodline $80??? - Marc - 06-28-2007 I see a listing for $66 on Amazon... not $80. And as to the reason you said it yourself: it's a limited edition. If you don't want to spend the $60 just wait a few months and buy the regular edition. (As to your comment about the author "milking the fans" I don't think it's up to the author but the publisher though someone can correct me if I'm wrong.) Why is Bloodline $80??? - SDSwami - 06-28-2007 These are Limited First Printings of the book and are also signed by FPW himself. I will gladly pay $50 for each copy of these, along with many others on here. I'm honestly suprised that Amazon even has a copy. Why is Bloodline $80??? - APhew - 06-28-2007 It's only "milking the fans" if you aren't a collector and simply cannot wait until the trade edition is released. Many authors release their books in limited/lettered form before the trade editions. Starting with Conspiracies that's the way all of the Repairman Jack books have come out. Why is Bloodline $80??? - Dave F - 06-28-2007 I think authors doing signed limited is great I buy them to collect them, some people will buy them as an investment My choice to buy - if you don't like it you can wait for mass market I used to do that, now I can afford the limiteds I collect them Why is Bloodline $80??? - cobalt - 06-28-2007 You can certainly wait for the mass market version. As for me, I pre-ordered to receive a signed, numbered limited edition for my collection. And don't blame the author......he's a great guy! Publishers must get their pound of our flesh ya know. Why is Bloodline $80??? - Silverfish - 06-28-2007 Oh, I borrow from people and the library and buy the paperbacks when they come out. That way I am current on the books, and still get to own a copy without having to live out of a paper box under a bridge. The only hardcover of FPW that I have is Black Wind, and I got that at a used book store for all of $10. (Canadian dollars, too.)
Just wanted to let you know that not everyone is taking out a second mortgage to pay for Limiteds. Just wait until it comes out in October, and until then avoid the *SPOILERS* threads. You'll be safe. Stephanie Why is Bloodline $80??? - Ken Valentine - 06-28-2007 Vargas Wrote:I can't stand all of these limited edition and milking of the fan base that authors always seem to do. Milking the fan base?! These limited editions are precisely that . . . limited editions. They're collectors items. And no one is being milked. They are numbered (or lettered) copies signed by the author. They are special books voluntarily purchased by those who want them. Ken V. Why is Bloodline $80??? - BK Akitas - 06-28-2007 I love my limited signed 1sts, they will never be posted for sale, just have them so I can say MINE! I didn't shell out bucks for Bloodline, I was one of the lucky ones who happeend to catch a timely post for reading an ACR and then shipped it off to another rabid reader for free (hey fish ain't that book there yet??????????)))
