The Proposition - The Mad American - 11-07-2006 Watched this movie the other night. For those not familar with it this is an Australian western ( I know I know.....). It takes place during the time the British are trying to "civilize" the country. The premise of the movie without spoiling it is this, a British officer, after having captured two of 4 Irish brothers from a gang of criminals makes the one brother a proposition that he will give him and his younger, mentally challenged brother a pardon for all crimes committed if he will go back out, find the older brother and leader of the group and kill him. This movie has me in a quandry. I don't know yet if I loved this movie or hated it. It is a, in my opinion, very stark and harsh movie. Showing that both sides are equally bad in everything they do. I had a hard time finding any of the redeeming qualities in either side that movies usually try and give with the exception of some of the actions of one of the brothers and the British officer. Anyone else seen this? The Proposition - Scott Miller - 11-07-2006 The Mad American Wrote:Watched this movie the other night. I considered it disappointing, maybe based on my high expectations based on the reviews, and didn't bother to comment on it here. I found it to be a snoozefest. Nothing happened at incredibly slow speed. |
