7th Son Podcast Novel BIG NEWS! - Scott Hajek - 11-06-2006
Since there are LOST fans and Serenity/Firefly fans on this board, I thought I should post a link to a press release for the 7th Son podcast novel trilogy.

If you want to get hooked on the story, make sure to start at the beginning of Book One: Descent. The first few minutes should suck you in and not let go until the end. It's only part way through book two at this time.
I got hooked on this podcast novel because of a cross-over with "Infection" by Scott Sigler who also did the "Earthcore" and "Ancestor" podcast novel.
7th Son is a fantastic podcast novel. Well-written and even more well read by the author, J.C. Hutchins. It's got everything I like in a story: technology, conspiracy, characters that grow on you, suspense, action, violence and no plot holes that disrupt the enjoyment of the story.
I've been meaning to post about this podcast for several months now, but usually get too wrapped up in the political threads. I can't recommend this story enough. I put it among my top favorite stories of all time.

Webby's got it right. But, it goes beyond that a bit. A podcast novel is one that, typically, an author hasn't found a home for it in print. So, they issue it in installments on a fairly regular basis to get interest in their works. The Scott Sigler podcast novel "Earthcore" started the trend as a podcast-only story. Most are jsut read by the author or someone else. Rarely are they done with full casts of people. There are plenty of podcast audio dramas out there now. Including a pretty good Dr. Who series. I also found an Indiana Jones one that could be good if they got around to finishing the story.
This 7th Son story is one of the best out there. The author has a good story, but, I think equally important, he's got a great voice for the electronic medium. Some of the writers/readers have decent stories, but their voices leave something to be desired and the stories lose their luster real fast.
If you've got an iPod or other mp3 player, or if you sit in front of your computer, try this one out. It's worth the time.

I don't have an iPod or mp3 player. Do you have to read it off a computer screen? I just can't get into books that way. Guess I'm too old fashioned.

They're all audio files. Just close your eyes and listen. Though, that's not such a good idea while driving. If you download iTunes (which is free, lets you rip and burn CDs and catalog all your music) you can subscribe to many different podcasts. You do have to hunt for some of the podcast novels, but if you like the RJ series, I can point you to some I really have enjoyed.
