Help me out here-- - Ossicle - 10-16-2006

I'm confused, probably because I haven't been following things closely enough.

FPW finished the revised version of Nightworld, right? Back in May?

How could he do this if all the RJ novels aren't written yet? Isn't there a chance that something will happen in an upcoming RJ novel that he didn't anticipate, and that the revised Nightworld might be out of sync? It just seems like he'd naturally wait to do the revised NW after he's done with the RJ novels.

Also, do we know how many more RJ novels there will be? (Maybe the answer to this helps answer the first question.)

Well, Ossicle, I can't speak for Paul, but he might say that the definitive NIGHTWORLD takes into account all the preceeding Jack books. In other words, the new Jack novels will take into account everything so grimly portrayed in NIGHTWORLD. No surprises. And I think Paul has hinted there will be at least 3 more Jack books. But the dol-garn hombre remains stubborn, even mulish, you might say, about any post-NIGHTWORLD Jack books. "I've wasted the planet--what more do you want!?" Yessir, that's what he's been known to roar. Which disturbs his wife Mary no end, in the middle of the night. But we can all look forward to YOUNG JACK--THE PREQUEL.

Isn't it so, that Paul wrote some books (sry, I am not so familiar with the english names) with RJ, but not as a main character. Later he decided to write novels with RJ as main character and more and more ^^

I hope that is correct. But, does it help you?

edit: damn, someone was faster than me^^

According to Wikipedia, Mary Wilson has worn earplugs since 1993 for exactly that reason. Big Grin

Jamo, Paul has written some =shorter= fiction with Jack as the main character. The original NIGHTWORLD had Jack as a more peripheral character than in the new version. But novels...don't think so... Unless, of course, Paul's been holding out on his loyal and true readers and writing different novels for the German market only!:p

My guess would be that FPW has an outline of what he wants to accomplish in the novels between Harbingers and Nightworld. Subtle little things can be changed, but I'd bet that the ideas and plots are all mapped out. He knows where he's going with the story, just how we get to read about it may be tweaked a tad.
