ThrillerFest 2006 - tooleman - 07-02-2006

Hi All,

My first attempt at talking on the forum: Went to the ThrillerFest convention and awards banquet this weekend in Phoenix (6/29/06-7/2/06) AND IT WAS GREAT! Mr. Wilson was gracious and displayed a superb affinity for percussion instruments. I wanted to ask him so many questions but found myself tongue-tied………

The International Thriller Writers (ITW) is a great group of people, this was the first year awards were given under the ITW stamp, and it was exciting. I plan on getting involved with the ITW because it was fun Cool and I want to see F. Paul Wilson win the life-time achievement award. Anyway this is the first time I posted because I find it hard to follow the threaded conversation. One last note Harbingers was great, dark and a bit hard on Jack, (Paul) don’t keep us waiting too long for some pay back!

Hey tooleman! Welcome to the board!
I wanted to be their yesterday but it wasn't in the cards. I'm glad you enjoyed it, do you have any stories about Paul you'd like to share?

Welcome to the board, Tooleman! Sounds like you had yourself a blast. Please don't ever be shy about approaching Paul--he always has plenty of time for his readers. And as for that percussion affinity--Paul used to play out in a band! Drummer man.

Thanks for the warm welcome: No stories about Paul except he's a great guy and was very gracious to my wife and me. I’m lucky in the sense that I live in AZ and found the ITW convention convenient in regard to location.

Hey KRW;

After thinking about your question, and re-reading your post, and being excited about using the forum, because I think “I got it” , I’d like to tell you a story; my story.

I went to the International Thriller Writers (ITW) convention for a number of reasons, and I’ll not bore you with them. What I came away with was a sort of personal epiphany, I saw people like our boy “F. Paul Wilson”, Clive Cussler, Jeff Abbott and their ilk living life on their terms; for the most part! I said to myself “these people are trying to live life on their terms as opposed to being lead around by the nose." I’m no idealistic dreamer, knowing this ain’t easy, but it’s better than waking up one day and saying what if or I should-a-?

So KRW, there’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

Cool story Joe! I would have been there, but the asking price was 95 bucks and Paul was the only one I was interested in seeing that day. I hoped to meet up with him somewhere else, but those where canceled. I'm glad you had a good time. Make yourself a regular around the board and we'll have a chance to talk about his books!

Ken-I'm also in Mesa

ThrillerFest 2006 - tooleman - 07-03-2006

Hey Mike;

I do! I'm typing my fingers to the bone, writing reams of allegoric narration and interaction. Someday I hope its read as an artist’s interpretation of the macabre. Given its own particular idiom, scaring the s@#t out of my reader’, and their children; forever.
