Poseidon - Kenji - 06-03-2006 Well, today I saw "Transporter2", and after that I had a time and free ticket. So....I saw "Poseidon". I like original (Gene Hackman's), and this remake version was not bad, but not great. I mean, it was so-so. SFX was almost full CG. Tsunami scene was awesome. I felt stuffy in the scenes of water rises. Big problem was characters. They didn't have appeal to the emotions. Actors & actress, themselves were no problem. I think script was bad. In the original, Shelly Winters say to Gene Hackman "You see, Mr. Scott? In the water I'm a very skinny lady*". Original script had a little wit and humor. If you want to see spectacle movie, I recommend this. But if you want to see dramatic movie like original, I don't recommend it. I'm glad I had free ticket. *Quoted from imdb. Cardboard-cutout characters, cheesy ending, some ok special effects - but Titanic had better ones IMHO. I also didn't pay to see it because my daughter took me out for Mother's Day. It's a good-enough movie to see for free, or just wait for DVD. Poseidon - Maggers - 06-03-2006 I hear there were lots of injuries suffered by the cast in the making of the new "Poseidon." Josh Lucas got some permanent scars. All for what, eh? Poseidon - webby - 06-03-2006 Maggers Wrote:I hear there were lots of injuries suffered by the cast in the making of the new "Poseidon." Yes, I heard that trips to the bathroom became scarcer and scarcer the longer they spent time in the water. YEWWW is right! Poseidon - cobalt - 06-03-2006 Maggers Wrote:LOL! YEWWW is right!Just a little chlorine in that water would have saved them some nasty infections..........Mr E. Coli and Ms Psuedomonis......yuck! Poseidon - Maggers - 06-04-2006 I saw half of "Poseidon" today. I missed the big wave, and arrived as the little group completed its climb from the main ball room to the upper/lower reaches of the ship. This is a simplistic action movie with no character development at all, as has been mentioned in other posts. The person we care least about bites the dust .. uh-oh, wrong analogy for this movie. And when the group finally escapes the ship, we don't really care. But in spite of these flaws, what I saw was certainly tolerable. But wait for it to come to your living room. Poseidon - Amon - 06-04-2006 I could've told you this just from seeing the trailer. Other then some Fergie-eye-candy, there was nothing about this film that made me want to go out and spend money on a theatre ticket.
