A choose your own RJ adventure. That would be cool.

If you want Jack to break Fred's arm turn to page 45.
If you want Jack to snap Fred's neck turn to page 120.

I personally would turn to page 120 but that's just me.

If you want Jack to rip out Fred's Liver through his nostrils, turn to page....Big Grin

How about this: "Choose Your Own RJ Adventures" with Young Jack - rather than Repairman Jack - as the protaganist. CYOA books tend to use teenage boys as their main characters, so it'd be more appropriate.

Drat. I sound like I'm doing a marketing plan. 'Scuse me all.

How about a TV show "The Young Repairman Jack Chronicles" starring Sean Patrick Flanery?

Depends on the situation, Jim. Sometimes one broken arm is worth a baker's dozen of broken necks. (Though as Biggles suggests, pulling livers out through nostrils is =always= fine style.)

That would be a fabulous idea. I poured over those choose your own adventure books as a kid. I would read and re-read just to make more choices.

There are other things I think Paul should write as well.

1. More stories centered on the NJ Pine Barrens (maybe along the lines of a Blair Witch concept--filmmakers go there to film a documentary).

2. Prequels to the LaNague Chronicles.

3. Sequels to The Fifth Harmonic.

4. Glaeken/Rasalom stories to fill in the gap between ancient history and 1942.

If we give him enough requests, it could keep him working for another 60 years, which would not be bad (for us).

I used to get those CYOA books all the time as a kid. When they are self-contained stories, they aren't so bad. When they're based on some series of books or other property, there can be problems. There was one for the "Stainless Steel Rat" series by Harry Harrison that had some serious editing problems. I marked up my copy with corrections to make sure I could get to an ending and not be stuck in a loop. The other problem is that the story can be quite boring and cannot be part of the canon as you can't have the main character die. I liked it when death was an option.

Biggles, I agree with all your ideas. One caveat, though--the Pine Barrens documentary has to be filmed by Michael Mann. (Imagine the drama when the director gets the first 1-on-1 interview with Scar-Lip!)

I he meets Scar-Lip, he won't be half the Mann he was.
