HGTV Inspired Project - Scott Miller - 03-22-2006

Damn HGTV; it all looks so easy up there on the small screen. Our bathroom has needed a facelift for awhile and it now is almost completed, only the tiling of the floor remains. For the past two weekends I have been dedicated to getting rid of the old and putting up the new. Gone is the carpet(who carpets their bathroom?we inherited it), shower doors, towel rods, garish light fixture and sad paint job. Although nothing, except the painting, went as easily as it could have, I am impressed with the results. I added crown, chair, and baseboard molding. I put up wainscotting, new towel and toilet paper holders, a funky new light, and we hung two custom-framed pictures. I can now take a dump in the elegance such an act deserves.

And we did it on a dime, thus far the project has cost less than $175.

My wife watches HGTV all the time. Sad That's why I'm putting down ceramic floor tile in our family room. Interested in coming over? I'll supply the Rolling Rock.

OMG, you guys crack me up! I'm addicted to HGTV. I want "Design on a Dime" to come to my apartment. They never to the East Coast, though.

Congratulations to you both, especially you, Scott. Sounds like a masterful reconstruction...and done on a dime, too! Big Grin

Dime is my favorite from the HGTV stable. I think you mention Lee as being quite studly, I'll give equal time to Kristen who could redesign any room in my house.

And $10 of that was horribly invested on a miter box. I couldn't believe how badly my corners on the crown molding turned out: I felt so good during the sawing process. The new corner pieces turned out a sharp looking plan B.
