Rome (HBO) (spoilers) - ShadowLord - 08-31-2005 Ok I got to watch part 1 of the new series last night. Overall it was fairly good. They are really playing up the sex for political gain aspect. Don't know how historically accurate that is but it made for some nice eye candy. The religious sacrifice was also interesting and I am going to assume that is an accurate portrayal of how it was done. The opening fight scene I thought was very realistic. To early to tell how good the series will be but after watching the fist one I will continue to keep an eye open for it. Amazing to realize how you had to watch your back when fighting for the Glory of Rome. Guess the only part I sort of scoffed at was the language used at some points, where they basically just revert back to english slang. Still gets a thumbs up so far. ShadowLord Rome (HBO) (spoilers) - neotank - 09-03-2005 I enjoyed it very much also. I relly liked the two knights (forgot thier names) who traveled together to find the gold eagle. Rome (HBO) (spoilers) - ShadowLord - 09-07-2005 Ok now I have seen the second episode and it was better then the first one, again perhaps a few (or many) changes from actual history but I think they are trying to do a good job of showing life in Rome.. Enjoyable TV ShadowLord Rome (HBO) (spoilers) - Biggles - 09-07-2005 ShadowLord Wrote:Ok I got to watch part 1 of the new series last night. I don't get HBO, but when you put (spoilers) in your heading I thought: "I hope he doesn't give away the fact that the empire fell." Reminds me of when I saw "Gettysburg" or "Pearl Harbor" and people wanted to know how they ended. Titanic was a big shocker for me too. I can't belive that boat actually sank! Another was Cinderella Man. Don't tell me how it ends. I want it to be a surprise. Maybe it'll happen differently this time. Rome (HBO) (spoilers) - Biggles - 09-08-2005 jimbow8 Wrote:Or Titanic. LOL! Or how about "They Died with their Boots On"? Or "The Last of the Mohicans" (at least insofar as the surrender of Fort William Henry and massacre of its survivors is concerned)? Rome (HBO) (spoilers) - ShadowLord - 09-12-2005 Ok did a quick look at HBO web site -- There are a total of 12 episodes for Rome. Episode 3 was good but again left me wondering about this historical accuracy of this film...Guess if I was interested in the real story I could read a book It was another good episode designed to keep me in anticipation for the next one. I must say the chracter development and plot lines are moving right along and keep the show interesting. ShadowLord For those who get mulitpule HBO channels I belive they are going to run all 3 episodes on the 13 and 14 to give you a chance to catch up. Check your TV or internet listings to make sure of the date and times... Rome (HBO) (spoilers) - neotank - 11-20-2005 Rome has become my favorite show. Lost is a close second. It's just a well written, fantastic show. Great acting, great drama, and some unbelievable action. Only the first couple years of the Soprano's compare to it in terms of quality. If anybody saw last weeks episode the gladiator scene was one of the coolest moments of TV I ever saw. Rome (HBO) (spoilers) - ShadowLord - 11-21-2005 Agree 100% what a scene -- I was almost disappointed in the season finale, however I have to say it is a fantastic series and I can't wait for more.
