The Next Generation Last Thread - Sigokat - 02-22-2013 I've heard they are making an Ender's Game movie with Harrison Ford as well as a Ninja Turtles movie. But I heard the Turtles are going to be aliens from outer space. The Next Generation Last Thread - Fenian1916 - 02-22-2013 Why fuck with the turtles like that? The Next Generation Last Thread - Sigokat - 02-22-2013 Because its Michael Bay. Oh and another reason why Trek is better than Star Wars. New Trek movie has Sherlock who is also Smaug. Done. Over. End of Discussion. The Next Generation Last Thread - Fenian1916 - 02-22-2013 But JJ is directing the next Star Wars movie and he wants to do a spin off Han Solo movie and a Boba Fett movie so it's not over yet chief The Next Generation Last Thread - Sigokat - 02-22-2013 JJ wants to do a lot of things and I think he's saying that shit to please the SW fanboys base. He's more vocal about his love for SW, so I can see him going off in that direction instead of sticking with the ST franchise he rebooted. Here's my thing with JJ though. He's full of himself. He acts like his poop don't stink because he was successful with LOST and NuTrek. He and his LOST cohorts LIED about LOST "There is no time travel in the show" and then turned what was a great series into a muddle mess at the end that seemed haphazardly thrown together. Yeah, we all "get it"...everything on the island happened, the church is the "waiting room" where once they die (at different times throughout life) they go there and wait for everyone from the island to get there. Yeah..great...it was still a lame ass ending. So I'll be happy with this latest Trek because I really like Cumberbatch and have for a few years now since getting into Sherlock. I hope he's not Khan but if he is, so be it. Nothing I can do to change that. ![]() Somehow I think Trekkies are more accepting of what JJ did with Trek then what SW fanboys are willing to accept with their beloved Star Wars saga. Even if Lucas is going to be a part of it. The Next Generation Last Thread - Sigokat - 02-22-2013 LTC Eugene Poindexter LOL Man his parents must have hated him when he was born! Poor guy The Next Generation Last Thread - Marc - 02-22-2013 I have always preferred TNG over TOS. It may have been because I grew up watching TNG, and by the time I went back and watched some of TOS it was so over the top campy. That said, a friend of mine recommended I check out DS9 and have been struggling to get through the first season. I have been told though that it finds its footing mid-way through season 2 (or was it season 3?). I think part of the problem there is that, as far as space station series goes, I prefer B5. I did follow Voyager for a bit but lost interest, and Enterprise was hit and miss up until season 3 when the series went from stand alone episodes to full on story arc series. That was a really good season. The Next Generation Last Thread - Sigokat - 02-22-2013 DS9 gets better as you go. And it is probably mid s2 to early s3 that things take off. When you start hearing about the Dominion it really grabs you. I wasnt a fan of the Bajoran religion/politics but they are necessary for the show. One thing I really liked about DS9 was how the characters really grew throughout the series, especially Bashir and Nog.I will admit some eps are stinkers but show me any tv show that didnt have a few bad eps...hello LOST's The Constant!!! Gawd!!I recommend sticking with DS9. When they introduce the Defiant there is a lot more space battles as well. And it is a badass ship. DS9 quickly became my favorite trek show and I was always a strong tos and tng supporter. The Next Generation Last Thread - PicardRex - 02-22-2013 What Sig said in regards to DS9. As soon as they begin the Dominion stuff it takes off and even though the Bajoran/Prophet stuff is integral to the story, the better stories are about the war. I heard the same thing about TMNT, I'm not surprised coming from Bay, what gets me is Eastman and Laird, the creators, have said they're cool with him fucking up their stuff. As far as Abrams, I can't stand the prick. Cloverfield was shit, Lost was alright up until a certain point and then fell apart, Alias was a gimmick show, and the fake Star Trek movie was a soulless production, he'll probably ruin Star Wars too, but I can't see how it could be worse than Lucas doing it. The only decent thing of his I liked was MI:III. Other than that I don't get why he is such a big deal. The Next Generation Last Thread - cobalt - 02-22-2013 Abrams did Cloverfield? I didn't know that. |
