Favorite Horror movie - APhew - 06-17-2011 Favorite movie of all time will always be: JC's The Thing I pray they do not fuck up the prequel. I've worshipped every entity I can think of in hopes that it will be good. It's impossible (IMO) to make a better horror film than JC's version, so I will settle for good. JC's Prince of Darkness is also excellent and I think one of his truly unappreciated works. The japanese(?) film Kairo, which we know of as Pulse (Kristin Bell was in the crappy remake) remains probably my favorite ghost movie of all time. And Pulse did suck, the American version at least-I'll have to check out the original. Favorite Horror movie - Lisa - 06-17-2011 ccosborne3 Wrote:Anyone remember The Car? It's been so long I have a hard time remembering the plot exactly but I remember that car kicked some ass. My mom and I watch that movie for kicks. The Hand (starring Michael Caine) is another fun one from that era. Favorite Horror movie - APhew - 06-17-2011 Oh come on! "Hello.... Hello.... I've got a message for you... and you're not going to like it" (cue body falling apart because it was filled with insects!) The creepy as hell shared dream... "we're transmitting from the year 199..." with that shadow form in the doorway of the church. The hand coming through at the end, the sacrifice, Donald Pleasance... It just worked for me on every level. Plus it had half the cast of Big Trouble in Little China. Favorite Horror movie - The Mad American - 06-17-2011 APhew Wrote:Oh come on! I liked Big Trouble in Little China and usually like Carpenter's movies (well, at least his 70's and 80's era stuff) but sorry, even with Donald Pleasance and the freezing booger guy from "The Golden Child" I couldn't get into that movie. But I will also say, that is the beauty of horror movies, what is scary or creepy to one person doesn't mean it is going to be scary or creepy for another. Not saying your pick isn't a scary movie Aphew, just saying it didn't do it for me. I really really liked the movie "Descent" as well and know a lot of people who didn't like it. It made me feel claustraphobic and I thought was a scary tale of how humans can act when put in horrorific situations. Half of the movies I enjoy people would rather stuff hot coals in their eyes than sit through, I'm aware of this fact, so I take no offense whatsoever. I think a big part of why I love that film so much is how I watched it, alone in a huge theater, at an impressionable and easily entertained 14 years old. Loved Marshall's Descent as well as Dog Soldiers. Favorite Horror movie - mad4tunes - 06-18-2011 My favorite horror movie is Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds". For nearly two decades after I saw that movie, I always carried an umbrella with me if I was going anywhere near a beach. And even now, I don't trust any f***ing seagull. |
