Netflix help? - Gerald Rice - 07-14-2004 fpw Wrote:Once again my Netflix cue is running low. Time for my irregular request for film suggestions. (Obviously they have to be available on DVD.) Four Rooms. This is a little know Quentin Tarrantino flick, but it's very good. Curdled is a good one, too. Hmm, what else? Just out on DVD is Flirting With Disaster, the funniest of all Ben Stiller's movies. Richard Jenkins, one of my favorite character actors, is particularly hilarious. If you haven't seen this one, you should. Scott Netflix help? - Sam - 07-15-2004 Yeah, Four Rooms was really good from what I can remember. Tim Roth was hilarious. Good call, Gerald. Can't remember if anybody suggested The Ninth Configuration. Been a long time but I recall liking it. Absolutely, Four Rooms was funny movie. Specially, the last episode(Tarantino and Roth) was parody of "Man from the South". I liked it! ![]() and, I recommend is..... (Obviously they have to be available on DVD.) If gambling and scams are your thing, then you will enjoy Shade, a movie about both. It has a solid cast, good writing, and a fun style. Sly Stallone is actually pretty good as The Dean; much better than his over-hyped performance in Copland. And if you like gambling, my wife highly recommends the Tony Valentine books by James Swain. She compares them to Hiaasen. Scott Netflix help? - hford713 - 08-09-2004 Hi, Not sure if this was brought up as film favorite and worth renting, but the one that stands out most prominently for me is Shattered Glass. Great story with a flawlessly cast Hayden Christensen in the lead. Netflix help? - Zach - 08-21-2004 Dave Wrote:Check out "He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not" if you get the chance. I'll let you know what I think of it. Zach Netflix help? - Sam - 08-25-2004 I don't know if anybody suggested this movie (lousy memory), but I recently watched "Chopper" starring Eric Bana. Bana was very convincing in this role as Chopper Read the Australian "outlaw" or whatever he should be called. A pretty good flick. Netflix help? - Maggers - 03-28-2005 I just watched "Happiness," courtesy of Netflix, a good but VERY disturbing film. It does not leave you feeling warm and fuzzy. Written and directed by Todd Solondz, it's about one family's search for happiness, but believe me, they search in places that, hopefully, neither you nor I have ever gone. It's a controversial film, supposedly dropped by one distributor then picked up by another. The acting is terrific. Phillip Seymour Hoffman, one of my all time favorite indy actors, stars along with a colorful and quite wonderful cast. |
