All right, I put Event Horizon in my Netflix queue, even though Netflix says their best guess for me is only two stars. Sig and all the rest of you better be right about this movie.

Yeah man, it was in a desert type town right? Big black sedan that was going around killing people and at the end when it blew up you could see the devil in the explosion. I loved that show when I was a kid.

It is a very good horror movie that takes place in space. Very dark, but very good.

Sounds like my kind of movie.

I try not to give the Netflix "best guess" any weight because their recommendations are usually so off I'm sure their "best guess" isn't very good either.

We have completely screwed up the best guess thing in our Netflix account. My wife, my kids and me all use the same account and rate the movies we watch. Vastly different tastes so it doesn't know up from down.

LOL - yeah there's a bit of that here too. I mostly use the account for streaming, but sometimes I'll get a disc for me and Mr. Webby to watch together. Most of the time that means I end up giving the oh-so-wishy-washy rating of three stars to just about everything I get on disc.

Event Horizon is one of only two horror movies that stuck with me long after I'd seen it. 2 weeks after I would still have nightmares about 'the video'. That's all I want to say about that. The other was The Thing which I saw when I was like 9.

I have to agree on Event Horizon. That had to be one of the best horror movies I've seen. I love that one - I bought the Director's Cut for the DVD.

Going foreign with three movies: The Eye, the original from Hong Kong, Cronos from Mexico and Audition from Japan.

And while it isn't scary, Evil Dead II must get at least a mention in a thread about great horror movies.

Speaking of foreign horror movies, I just got some DVDs of a couple of classic Italian made ones, Black Sunday, starring Barbara Steele, and Black Sabbath, starring Boris Karloff. I also got the British Hammer flick The Vampire Lovers, starring Ingrid Pitt and the French Brotherhood of the Wolf, which I'd class as a horror movie, in spite of the fact that it's also part mystery, eroticism, fantasy, and martial arts movie.
