Non-FPW Readings - madh0us3 - 01-28-2012 I've been reading RJ and Adversary for the last few months and I'm partway through The Dark at the End right now. I think when I'm done with it I'll start Robert McCammon's "Mine". After that, I've got a stack of Ann Rule I haven't read yet. I'll have to space them out though, I can only take true crime in one or two book doses even though I love it. Non-FPW Readings - Medusa - 01-28-2012 You'll love Mine! Robert McCammon is great. Swan Song is my favorite of his. And I love the Matthew Corbett series. madh0us3 Wrote:I've been reading RJ and Adversary for the last few months and I'm partway through The Dark at the End right now. I really loved Swan Song and Boy's Life, I'm looking forward to it. Edit: It's a few days later and I am enjoying it, but I had forgotten about McCammon's penchant for page-long paragraphs. It's going to be quite an adjustment period after reading almost nothing but FPW for 4 months. Non-FPW Readings - LolaRennt - 02-07-2012 I've read Boy's Life. I'll have to look for Swan Song. I read The Hangman's Daughter while on a plane a couple of weeks ago. Entertaining, fast read - good for a plane. Non-FPW Readings - Medusa - 02-07-2012 Trying a new author. The Monkey's Raincoat by Robert Crais. First couple pages in and he's a smart ass - I like him already. Non-FPW Readings - Alvin Fox - 02-07-2012 Lately I've been going back and forth from Simon R. Green's Forest Kingdom Saga (the six Hawk & Fisher books again and the other four books for the first time) and Dan Simmon's Hyperion Cantos for the first time. Hyperion was good but The Fall of Hyperion really dragged its feet. Endymion has been the best so far. Non-FPW Readings - IanSF - 02-08-2012 John Christopher, author of many YA books including 'The Tripods Trilogy' and other adult science fiction such as 'The Death of Grass' (US title 'No Blade of Grass), and 'Wrinkle in the Skin', died on Feb 03. NY Times obituary. I enjoyed his fiction very much, having read his books as a teen and many times since. Non-FPW Readings - Srem - 02-13-2012 LolaRennt Wrote:I'll have to look for Swan Song. I've only read 2 or 3 Robert McCammon books in the last 20 years, but I really really liked Swan Song. In fact, everyone I know who's read liked it as well. Kinda reminds me of Stephen King's The Stand. Non-FPW Readings - Medusa - 02-29-2012 Has anyone ever read Joe Lansdale? I have several of his books but haven't yet read them. He's coming to town for a book signing on March 24th. I'm thinking of reading them and maybe going to the signing. Non-FPW Readings - Alvin Fox - 02-29-2012 I've only read some collections of Lansdale's short stories. I enjoyed them. I have The Bottoms and a few Hap & Leonard books that I've been meaning to read. |
