Who's Your Cast? - persephoneslove - 08-04-2008

I've been off for about a week now so let me catch up: yes, no, yes yes no, broccoli, maybe, and ewww! jk.

The Gia list was pretty comprhensive and I'm leaning towards a Kerri Russel-esque Gia. She's got that wholesome look about her. Natasha Henstridge would be good except for a few minor details [ie too tall, too skinny, and a little old to play Gia, I think]

Stanley Tucci as Abe???WTF? Are you gonna put him in a humungo fat suit that distorts any resemblence to Tucci at all? Cause if so, then what's the point of having him in the frst place? The Tucc is too meticulous for Abe.

Brendan Fraser...love the guy, great work in the Mummy, but as Jack? Forget it. Someone suggested it to me awhile ago and as soon as the image of him popped into my head it was like "NOnononononononono. No." Just...no.

PS I miss the head bashing stick figure too.

Did I miss anything? Confusedkep:

Seeing as Brendan Fraser is getting a fair bit of 'air time' on this (and other casting threads), how about casting him as brother Tom in 'Infernal'?

Who's Your Cast? - Scott Miller - 08-04-2008

Fraser would be great in the Tom role but in no way do I want to see him as Jack, despite the fact that I think he's a decent enough actor. Maybe we should start casting Jack: Secret Histories as it seems everything is geared toward the YA market these days.

He would be out and out freaking perfect for Tom, who was 10 years older than Jack. Fraser's 40 and Reynolds is 32. You hit the nail dead-on with that one, Ian.

We could, but there seems little point since the companies that ARE insterested in doing a young-jack movie are being blocked by Beacon who owns that character rights (see FPW's latest on the movie).

I suggest that we all start looking for younger actors to play in Repairman Jack I: Claws of the Rakoshi since Beacon will not commence shooting until Reynolds is too old for the role.

More on "Why Beacon will not be doing a Repairman Jack movie in the next 5 years" in a later post.

Watch them do something downright stupid. Watch them notice Gia is blonde and cast Paris "Parrot Nose" Hilton as Gia.

And if they did the YA series they'd cast Hanna Fudgin Montana as Kate or something. With good ol' Billy "achy-breaky-I-thought-I'd-seen-the-last-of-him 15-years-ago" Cyrus as Jack's dad.

Ah, Persephone, you misunderstand Abe...the outer shop of the Isher Sports Shop is total chaos, just the way Abe likes it...the REAL reason the shop exists is for his back room, which I've always read as being meticulous to a fault. It wrecks me that it took me almost five years to catch the reference in the shop name.

And Stanley wouldn't really have to wear a fat suit. I'll bet he'd do just fine the way he is.

I love the idea of Brendan Fraser as Tom!

However...Keri Russell as Gia! You, ma'am, are a GENIUS!

I agree, Seph is a genius.

That's why I left Keri on the list I proposed for Gia almost a week ago. There were numerous actresses that I removed from that list prior to posting it, leaving only the ones that I thought would fit Gia the best.

While she's not my first pick, she'd do fine...but she's the same age as Reynolds and I thought Gia was supposed to be between 3-5 years younger...so Mena Suvari (29) would make a good complement to Reynolds (32). That makes your choices equally good, Mad4.

I LOVE Kevin Smith. Hes a fellow Jersey Boy who made good and his stuff is damned genius sometimes, but I can't see him as Abe. Hell, I can't see him holding a gun of any kind. I'd just keep thinking WTF is Silent Bob doing with a gun?

And NO WAY do I want Gyllenhal as Jack. Love the guy, love his work, but I can't see a mean bone in his body.
